....since I've checked out the PF on...well, you know....over there.

Gd and I have been a tad busy here, but I went over to do a little reading and such. You, like myself at times, kinda like a little debate and it will eventually happen here no doubt as others join up, but it is getting more personal than I've ever seen "there" in my short couple of years.

I have a feeling they'll be going through what we're going through in a little while...No one to argue with. :eek:

One thing's for sure. We won't let the personal attacks be permitted by one and not by the other. Sheeesh!

As many of you know, I'm a mod at a huge site. Before I was "promoted" to global mod, I was over just one forum....religion and politics. It took me awhile to get everyone to grasp the concept, but if we all treat each other with even a basic level of respect, we can disagree and still get along.

I think that is what we're looking for here. Opposing viewpoints are welcome here and it's only a matter of time until they come. I think it will be a good thing, that's one of the factors that spur interesting debate. But we will require that this debate remain civil and that all our members be afforded a reasonable level of respect.

This policy worked at the other site; now members there can civil discussions without the name calling and insults. And the discussions are far more productive that way.
 
YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!! Geez Louise - I HATE all that vitriol that I see on some web sites. I just don't bother going there since I know it's gonna get ugly.

Thanks. Guard dad put it very well and there's not really more to add. The Christian site I was on for a while had folks from both the far left and right. They had strong debates, but it was never permitted to get personal or so low as it does on other sites.

On the other side of the coin, that particular Christian site was SO heavily moderated, you were scared to post how you really feel at times. And Heaven forbid that you tried to use humor in the wrong place. I think that is why the Hwy will work out well. LOW moderation, but Zero tolerance for personal attacks.

It's been DAYS since I've been over there. It's probably a new record for me. LOL

But, I must say I'm deeply disappointed in my lack of ability to abuse and misuse my powers. :lol:
 
I've quit posting and advertising over there. The end of the month will be it. I won't pay someone to insult me any more.

The biggest complaint I had with them was the unfair moderation of the posts. I contributed to the condescending remarks only because of the frustration of the rule implications. No more for me though. I won't allow that behavior here on pcom. Scouts honor and I wasn't even a scout. :p

LOL, someone over there sent me a friends request today. But it had been so long since I logged in there I could not remember my password. It's been 6 to 9 months at least.

I have not replied to a TP post in awhile now. It's easier than I thought it would be.
