WHy do some people.....

My nephew was in a horrific car accident when he was 16 and was at Shepherd for six weeks. Anyhoo, he made a full recovery (the most miracle-y of miracle stories, let me tell you!!!), but had to continue with PT, OT, and neuropsychology exams for several months after he was released. The neuropsychologist noted at one visit, "Patient blows his nose and examines the contents."

But as for me, it's as much a horror thing as anything else. I have nasal issues...long story short, nasal surgery (major reconstructive) when I was in college solved many problems. But I can't blow my nose like most people. That is, I can blow it, but it takes several times before everything is expelled. So I look to see if I need to keep blowing. But also because it grosses me out and I can't seem to look away. I am so weird - I can watch surgery, see sputum drawn from a lung, and watch babies of all kinds being born. But one look at nasal contents and I just gag. Which makes me not be able to turn away. I truly am the weirdest person I know.

Duuuuude!! I totally feel ya on the blowing and blowing part. I just had surgery to rectify that little PITA situation. I'll be blowing blood for a few days or even a week. It's is so gross but the end result will be no 5 minute blowing of the nose!! I will keep you updated. :hug

Silly girl. I was KNOCKED out before they started. It will be worth it because I won't have the issues I've had for the last 6 to 7 years.
