It hacks me off as well, but I'm thinking that the dems want to legitimize them by officially recognizing them. If once the US Treasury puts their name on a check, then they can probably be given legal status by default. I say let them apply for it, then send them a $100 check via the INS!! Pay'em and cuff'em at the same time.
