What's behind Georgia's record-breaking early voting turnout

OK instead of starting a new thread I will just comment on this one. Attempted to early vote this morning but line was well down the sidewalk into the parking lot near the detention center. I kept on going. Hence some questions. Why early vote if you are going to have to wait as long or longer than election day? Why is there only one polling place open in Paulding until next week? Why do the polls open in the middle of the day (9 a.m.) instead of 7 a.m.? I looked over the sample ballot on line. Most of the offices down ballot are running unopposed or against very weak opponents. The two proposed amendments and one question are pretty straight forward. I have been a victim of the $7,500.00 cap on personal property so I am all for raising it to $20k. As for the new court system for taxes I am a fiscal conservative and anything that increases the size of government I am against. Straighten up the existing superior court system instead of creating larger government. A lot of the reason for this amendment is the gross incompetence of the larger courts especially Fulton County. If you support this in theory you support larger government and by default think that more government is the answer to incompetent government. Hold these courts to a higher standard and weed out the incompetent administrations that support/run them. The homestead exemption is a little more complicated but will probably help more rural areas that have assessments somewhat influenced by the more populated/wealthier counties in the state. I am no expert on this one but I think it will probably get my vote. I will make additional attempts to early vote but I am not standing in line for a extended period. I have work to do so I can pay taxes so the government can blow it out a hog's arse.

We had a similar line last Friday but it only took 15 min from the spot you mentioned to get in the door to vote.
