What do you buy for the hubby that has everything...

LisaC

I'm here to spin the moral compass.
Seriously, the hubby's birthday is Friday. I need ideas. He has more power tools that you can imagine and already has an iPad. So, who has ideas?

Last Christmas I gave my wife coupons for "hanky-panky" that I made up and printed.
They looked like real coupons and were done very tastefully.
She liked the gift.
Well she said she did, I am still waiting for her to redeem one.
(serious on all the above)

Do something?

Does he like shows? (theater, circus, etc) Tickets to some sports game? (I did a night out with a limo and basketball tickets one year as a gift. They were able to drink beer, watch basketball and not have to worry about driving home. They had a good time.)

Oh wait, I better not do that. You're probably ready to jump!

I wish!! Hubby is not a big sports fans, other than drag racing. He will only go to theater, circus, concerts when he has to (meaning me or the princess want to go).

This is tough because if there is something he wants, he usually gets it for himself. When I simply ask him what he wants for his birthday, he just says, "save the money for my Christmas present" and I'm left thinking, "great, I have to do this all over next month!!!"

Does he like to; golf, play paintball, rock climbing? Wine? Coffee? Beer? I need more info girly!

My dad was one to whom the small things meant a lot.
He was very hard to buy for at birthdays and Christmas.
He really liked Bryers icecream.
One year for his birthday I got him something like 6 or 8 cartons of his favorite flavors.
He loved that gift.
Another year I got him and assortment of jams and jellies, another home run.
While these were all things he could, and did, get for his self, they were things he really he enjoyed and he loved the idea of getting them as gifts.
I could not have bought a "thing" that would have made him happier.

Does he play golf?
Like guns?
If so, then a gift card for a couple rounds of golf at his favorite course or gift cards at a golf store or a gun store would be great gifts.
If he doesn't like either, would you mind getting me one?

He golfs when he has to (when he has to go with clients, etc.). He loves guns. I bought him a Springfield 1911 last year for his birthday because I overheard him telling a friend that was going to be his next gun purhcase. He hasn't given me any info like that this year. I haven't gotten any hints from him - I add a note on my phone any time he or the princess see something that they really like. I don't like to give him gift cards - he likes to get presents, actual stuff.

I'm stumped this year...

OK, I have your solution.
You buy me a Springfield 1911 and tell him that you had no choice as he gave you no helpful hints on what to get him.
I am willing to go along with this just to help you.
That will teach him.

You just stick to couponing, leave the problem solving to others... :laugh

What about a day out for him, take him to lunch and a trip to the shooting range? Wrap a pack (?) of bullets with a certificate to the range and lunch. What about gun accessories? A new holster, gun safe, etc? You can wrap those too.

If he has an Ipad there are 40 billion cool accessories to go with them. You could do that too.

I personally like to give experience gifts. Things I know my husband would like to do, but probably won't go do unless I give him the certificate to do it. Mine also buys pretty much what he wants so gifts are a bit difficult. I also buy what I want, but there are always new shoes and pink items to be had! We are soooo much easier. ;)
