Well, that's not good!

Speculations of terror attacks and stuff are flying, but everything I read indicates it's just a major failure.

Sounds like a design fault, they are talking a fire that was able to spread and take out both the main and redundant feeds.

Sounds like the "low bidder" did a minimum job on the firewalls.

Proving the old saying, "You get what you pay for."

Two redundant feeds and substations in one tunnel. One manual switch. It ain't rocket surgery.

Saw the 10PM news on Fox and they interviewed a football player from Colorado State trying to get home to Jacksonville. Reporter came on a few minutes later and there were people pulling up looking for the kid trying to help him out. Good story.

Don't blame the contractors for a design flaw this one falls on the Architect/Engineers. Contractors, low bid or not did not design the system. I face design issues all the time and bring it to the attention of the Engineers or GC. Usually it takes so long to get a response from them you have to continue with the project even when you know there are design issues. Often (not always) the designers are also pompous asses hiding behind a degree with absolutely zero practical application experience. I have worked on some switchgear under the terminal at HJ in another life but from the pictures I have seen I don't think this is the vault that failed. Cleveland Electric was already on site and I am sure will correct the problem as quickly as possible.

Way to go Chick-fil-a!!!

Chick-fil-A steps in to feed the stranded at Atlanta airport... on a Sunday

Chick-fil-A is an outstanding company and as good a citizen as any company I can think of. As if I needed another reason to eat at CF. Way to go guys. I think Mr. Cathy would be OK with this gesture. "For I was hungered and ye gave me meat, I was thirsty and ye gave me drink, I was a stranger and ye took me in" Matthew 25:35

They're a little pricey but as far as I'm concerned some things are worth paying a little extra. Great company (and good food).

They are a great company and sincere in their beliefs.

What the gay community and parts of the political left tried to do to them a few years ago over Dan Cathy's personal beliefs was hateful and wrong.

Second underground fire that I know of at the airport, I was there for one a few years ago. The trains stopped running and we had three concourses worth of passengers trying to walk though the tunnel at the same time. It was a mess then and they had power in most places. Sounds like they didn't learn much.

Think if a car outside backfired or worse, someone shot off a couple rounds...with people on edge, the stampede would have likely hurt and possibly killed lots of people.
