...of our counter-counter offer on a land purchase in Paulding County. We heard that the lady who owns the property does not do internet or email and may live in Bremen so the selling agent has to drive over to physically met with her to get the paperwork going. We’re hoping the offer can be finalized by tomorrow. We’ll have a 60 day contingency with the option of an additional 30 days if needed, hopefully that will be sufficient time to gather the remaining data to finalize our plans to build both our house as well as that of our oldest daughter and her family. If all goes well then our son and his wife can build their home on their portion after we’re moved in. It has been a long term dream of ours to have our family settled on adjacent land with each having additional acreage. It’s an awful time to be building two houses but then again I’m not sure there’s ever a good time. If it all works out it will be well worth the investment and effort.

Glad to see your dream come true.
Thanks, we still have a long way to go but we’re at least off to a good start. We both already have our house plans with slight modifications and the total estimate should be finalized this week. The land has recently been surveyed so our next step is to get a topographic map to select our home sites then order percolation tests. Water, electric, and internet service is available but we’ll need cost estimated for running service to each home site. I may be asking for tips and insight during the process since we haven’t built a house since 1995 and have never built on undeveloped land.

Family land is a long discarded concept that should not disappear. There is a lot of it up here that was never divided for tax or address purposes. Some of it is three generations, as many as a dozen families, living on one tract. It is driving the county crazy trying to deal with it.

Screw the county. Send one tax bill, it will get paid. If mama calls an ambulance there will be a family member at the gate. But they aren't giving up.

Now they require each home to be on its own deed, on at least 1acre of land, and with deeded access to a road. There can be no land not on one of the home deeds. Old timers are fixin' to get around to that. :)

How many acres?
It’s just shy of 36 acres. We plan to renew the 10 year conservation covenant which expires in December since it offers a tax break in return for not subdividing in less than 10 acre plots. We plan to divide into 3 equal plots with each individual driveway connecting to one main entrance located on a property line, that’s one thing to confirm on my checklist before closing.

Nice! You can do whatever with that much. We'll need to set you up a serious outdoor sound system.
