For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would want to be in a union. I have many friends in Michigan who worked for GM and were members of the UAW. They didn't care for the union at all. It would piss them off how the union would get back the jobs of those members who were fired for getting drunk or stoned while working. Their actions not only jeopardized quality of products, but put the lives of other union members they were working with in danger. When there were layoffs, union local leadership had no problem getting their family members hired to work at a plant. They also didn't appreciate at all how everybody in the union got the same pay raise every year.

In today's times being a union member means earning more pay than you're worth and job security for the lazy. It wasn't always that way but that's what it has become and why people love them still.
