"Understanding the World"

I'll admit I'm a number nerd. I'm also a huge fan of statistical displays: I own all of Edward Tufte's books, and some of you might remember the evolution poster I put up a while back. I just love the different ways of displaying information. I can spend hours coming up with informative illustrations for my classes. It's fun!

So, this number nerd found Taschen's Understanding the World, a spectacular and very heavy book filled with amazing charts and illustrations including the evolution chart I posted on another thread. I just carried it back from the Post office along with 3 pairs of jeans and a sack of groceries, so I can vouch for how heavy it is!

Since I got it home, I've been studying the book instead of prepping my sermon. It's just amazing. I could spend days studying it. As part of my posting this thread, I put the book in the living room (I'm working in the kitchen right now so I can see out the back window) so that the book stops distracting me. It is amazing, and filled with information presented in a fascinating way.
