I point out how flawed his plan for imposing history using historical and current facts and you call me a hater for telling the truth. The truth is if you had facts to support Trump's tariff plan would be a success you would present them.Again, not gonna waste my time, you won't allow yourself to be enlightened. The hate is too strong.
You're find out soon.

Here's a quick lesson on tariff's. They penalize domestic companies that import foreign-made products with the intent of encouraging those companies to source more of those products within the country. For example, the vast majority of clothing Americans purchase are not made in the USA. Those made in the USA are a lot more expensive. Impose a tariff of 20% on imported goods and you will see that charged to consumers in the retail price.
70-80% of Walmart's inventory is product made in China. Impose a 200% tariff on those products will not only hurt the company, but the employees and constumers who shop there. That $12 shirt will now cost $36. What percentage of Walmart customers do you think can afford a $36 shirt? For that matter how many could afford a $24 shirt.
If you think a company could start a factory in the US to produce $12 shirts, think again. Imposing tariff's the way Trump is talking would only result in a tariff war with other countries and everyone will lose. History has shown that over and over. What do you think that would do to the value of American companies you own stock in who export products overseas? Bye bye stock values.
If anyone on this forum isn't looking at the big picture, it's you GD and J-Man. History has proven several times that tariffs will lead to an economic downturn. BTW I would be saying the same thing if any other politician was proposing tariffs like this.
Interesting comparison, I hadn't thought about this one.
Trump’s secret weapon may tip the election

Yes, Tariffs are dangerous and must be deployed carefully. And must be modified over time as demand changes. Some comments:
If you think Walmart is paying $12 for a $12 shirt, you don't understand economics at all. Walmart is paying *maybe* $4 for that shirt out of the container at the import location (likely less). So even your 200% tariff (which is likely bogus political BS) makes the shirt $20 retail at the most, not $36.
Here's some related information about Walmart's profit margins:
Gross profit margin: In fiscal year 2023, Walmart's global gross profit margin was 23.5%. Let's use that. That would mean Walmart's cost for the shirt was $9.72 for the shirt they sold at retail for $12.
Net profit margin: In fiscal year 2023, Walmart's net profit margin was 2% = $0.19
Operating profit margin: In fiscal year 2023, Walmart's operating profit margin was 3% = $0.29
.
And no one is expecting US factories to make $12 shirts, that is the point!! To get a $4 shirt, China (or wherever) is paying slave wages and any pollution controls. Anything made here is going to be at US wages, which will be $20 shirts. The tariffs just make those shirts competitive and keep manufacturing jobs here.
The tariff increases the cost of the imported shirt, while wages remain the same. Can you say inflation?
Manufacturing is where value is created. Assembling stuff here out of foreign parts isn't much better than just importing the item. The majority of the value is added overseas. However, this is also where environmental regulations come into play. If China burns coal to make power and pollutes the air making chips, whereas do to make those things here requires more expensive production techs, then that is also an issue. However, we should be able to make the greenies happy to pay more since it would cutting down on world wide pollution to have the items made here protecting the environment.
Tariffs would not be raised against European nations, they already pay good wages to their workers and costs are similar so no changes to the flow between us and them. Trump said he would impose a 200% tariff on goods imported from China and 20% from everywhere else.

Would Donald Trump’s taxes on trade hurt US consumers?
What could happen if Donald Trump drastically increases tariffs as he has promised to do?www.bbc.com
I’m pretty sure that Pringles aren’t made in China. Most if not all the import from china is JUNK. It would be nice to go to the auto parts store and buy a
part that last more then the warranty. Just went through this with a china made voltage regulator.
Tried three cheep china ones and finally bought a ac/delco made in us. Double the money, but it works.
I see walmart being in bad shape as there is not much in their store that doesn't come from china.
Mexico?I’m pretty sure that Pringles aren’t made in China.
I like Pringles.
