Today is the hearing for our tax appeal. I'm doomed but wish me good luck & say a prayer anyway. :D

I have done my research, and put together a folder with all the documents I need. I still feel very intimidated by this, but we'll see what happens!

I don't know. She finally gave me her previous appraisals this morning for support....they're 6 yrs old. And her current appraisal is higher than the amount that the county used to calculate the property taxes. I don't see any way I can pull this off.

I'm doomed.

Oh, sweetie, you're not doomed. You are doing a job for someone else who doesn't want to fool with asking them to lower her taxes. Whatever the outcome, you have done well. And if she doesn't think so, send her to me, and I'll send give her a gift certificate for Lisa C's new bidness. ;)

Hahahaaaa! I read up on appeals, made myself some notes & gathered all the current info together, with her promise of prior year support for our appeal. Yeah the value went down dramatically...6 stinking years ago!

I tried to reason with her about canceling the hearing but she insisted. At this point I've no choice but to try & represent her as best as I can. But after this...
 
The gentlemen were very nice. It wasn't quite as scary as I thought. They stuck with their assessment. At the end of it, one of the men said "Bless your heart. They sent you to a gun fight with a plastic knife."

Yeah, that's what it felt like too. :frustrated:

6 Years? Anything older then 6 MONTHS is considered out dated and no longer usable.

Like I said, hon - you done good. SHE is the goob in this situation. Well done. Give yourself a pat on the back and get Marc to take you somewhere good to eat for supper. ;)
 
Yup, you were set up. These things are impossible to win without multiple recent comparables and a brand new certified appraisal. Then you are still at the mercy of the board.
