I like Tim Scott, I hope he does well.
Will black voters who lean Democrat support him? I have my doubts.
Yeah, I was a Keyes supporter too. Even went to a fancy fundraiser for him and payed way too much for a plate of food to hear him speak.Alan Keyes was my choice in the 2000 Republican Primary. Unfortunately, there were too few conservative blacks and those who usually vote Democrat will never vote for a Republican.
He would have been a good president.Yeah, I was a Keyes supporter too. Even went to a fancy fundraiser for him and payed way too much for a plate of food to hear him speak.
The black Democrats will reject him because he's a conservative. What's worse is white Democrats will say things like he has abandoned his people and other racist things.Tim Scott Sets May 22 Announcement for 2024 Presidential Bid
That's sad because he's a great guy and a probably one of the more conservative members of congress. I think he'd be a good prez or VP.The black Democrats will reject him because he's a conservative. What's worse is white Democrats will say things like he has abandoned his people and other racist things.
Could happen later.Call me crazy but I was kinda hoping Scott and DeSantis secretly joined forces and announced running together at the same time. DeSantis / Scott would be tough to beat.
I don't think it will. The electoral college comes into play when a vice-presidential running mate is selected. Usually a vice-presidential running mate is from one of the 11 states with the most electoral votes in the chart below. If the Republican candidate is from Florida, which state would you think the GOP will want it's vice-presidential running mate to be from? Keep in mind there have only been three presidential candidates who have won the election without taking Ohio.Could happen later.
California | 55 |
Texas | 38 |
Florida | 29 |
New York | 29 |
Illinois | 20 |
Pennsylvania | 20 |
Ohio | 18 |
Georgia | 16 |
Michigan | 16 |
North Carolina |
True, but Scott has national appeal, and his being a black man could work in his favor. The GOP is incorrectly portrayed as being racist at times, and Scott could help to counter that.I don't think it will. He's polling at 2% and he doesn't have the name recognition nationally.True, but Scott has national appeal, and his being a black man could work in his favor. The GOP is incorrectly portrayed as being racist at times, and Scott could help to counter that.
If not for Trump and possibly DeSantis being in the race, Scott would likely be a front runner. I suspect he'll easily pull 3rd or 4th in the primaries.
He'll come up some once the primaries start. He's likable and pretty good on his feet. But still, he can't overcome the heavyweights in the race. He's polling at 2% and he doesn't have the name recognition nationally.
I don't think he would get more than 5%.He'll come up some once the primaries start. He's likable and pretty good on his feet. But still, he can't overcome the heavyweights in the race.
Once the media starts in on him, he will be Caucasian. And a racist.True, but Scott has national appeal, and his being a black man could work in his favor. The GOP is incorrectly portrayed as being racist at times, and Scott could help to counter that.

They'll call him a traitor to his race, house slave, Uncle Tom, etc.Once the media starts in on him, he will be Caucasian. And a racist.
