Times Person of the Year 2013: Pope Francis

I looked but did not see if anyone had posted this. My gf's Catholic and non all had a conversation when this was announced and they all love him too. This was one article I really liked. Not very wordy and lots of pictures.

He is an inspiration and I just love the man.

I have to admit that I really like him to. He is truly a humble servant of God.

I liked it when the kid latched in to his leg and he let him stay there as he kept shaking hands

I like that he reaches out to those who need to feel the love and acceptance of Jesus.

Seems like a truly good guy.
(wonder how he made it so high up?)

(this is not a slam at Catholics, but rather at the world in general, I would say the same if he was Baptist or in a big business)

Except for his political leanings (socialist), he was one of the better choices. Did you see who was 2nd on the list?

I honestly do not care about his leanings. I believe it was Snowden.

I don't think his political leanings are all that left. I think he's so intent on majoring on compassion that it gets interpreted that way sometimes, plus whatever his comments were lately about capitalism. I like him pretty well. Nobody has stolen my heart again like JPII did, but there's still time. :)

As for Snowden, I cannot find it in my heart to wish him harm. I can't decide if he's a traitor or a bold patriot. I think I'm leaning 60-40 bold patriot.

Being inclusive in his love of all pepole does not make him a socialist - it makes him a wonderful example of what a true man of God should be.

I think he deserved it. I've enjoyed the snippets I've read of him. And, rumor was that Miley Cyrus was a possibility. I'm certainly happy he won over that.

Sen. Ted Cruz was second.

Yes, the Pope is a Socialist/Communist as he has called for the removal of Capitalism in all Countries of the world, and other things as well. I guess he never heard of "separation of church and state"? Boy are the liberals going to be mad in the US! Does this make him any less deserving for the award? No.

But look at all who Time has selected as "Man of the Year" also, like Castro, Saddam, Obama and many others.

Um, he is a Pope you know. :dunno

I did not even hear Cruz as a runner up, was that in the article? I will have to go back and read ...ah Cruz was 5th.

You have to admit he is a very humble feller. They reported that he even eats out of papal plates. :thumbsup
