The VP

Strong rumors today that Biden will pick Kamila Harris for his VP. If there was ever a way to insure that fence sitting libertarians would not vote for him this is it. Her prosecutorial and political record are everything libertarians point to as morally and constitutionally corrupt. The only possible worse choice as a black female VP would be Stacy Abrams.

I doubt this will sit too well with the small faction of the BLM crowd who are sincerely interested in substantive change either. She made her bones aggressively prosecuting young black men for largely victimless crimes and bragging about it.

Speaking of doing it wrong, how many women will be impressed with her blowing her way to the top?

She will be a plus for Trump and Jo, and won't even deliver a purple state in the process.

Californication isn't a swing state like Florida. So regardless of who Joe chooses, California will be his. He gains zero electoral votes if Kamala Harris is his VP...

I suspect it will be Susan Rice or Val Demings instead of Kamala Harris. But with Demings being a former police officer, that could hurt her chances too with the antifa/BLM crowd... Regardless, I'm voting for TRUMP 2020!

It’s just pitiful that we can’t find qualified and electable nominees.

I beg to differ

pick one!

.... or two

Heels up Harris...

I heard he may go with her on the radio today too... but she was one of the first to be pushed out due to unlikeability in the dem primary ... she just comes off as a fake.

I don't think Adams has a chance... she's just huge and unattractive to boot. Even Creep Ol' Joe can see that...

Bottoms doesn't have the national exposure that Harris, Rice, Demings Warren or Duckworth have. I'm thinking the BLM folks will pressure Joe into picking a black woman, so that eliminates Warren and Duckworth... My three pics would be Rice, Harris and Demings in that order.

I'm hearing Elizabeth Warren is a strong contender right now. Keep one thing in mind; the statement Biden made to that one guy, "You ain't black if you don't vote for me." I strongly believe the Biden camp believes blacks will turn out in large numbers to vote for Biden regardless of who his running mate is. The DNC believes they have done a great job of painting Trump as a racist and blacks will turn out in huge numbers to vote against him.

If he picks Warren, don't be surprised if at the same time he announces some of these other women who were in the running as cabinet positions.

One phenomenon I've seen in previous president and VP races was that a lot of women didn't like the female candidates. A lot of women didn't like Sarah Palin, and when Fiorina ran, a lot of women saw her strength as her being bitchy. Even with Hillary, a lot of women were turned off by her. Not at all what I expected.

Will this happen with a black female candidate? I'm thinking yes, especially with other black women. Black women tend to be extremely competitive with each other.

Having said...traditionally, the VP choice really doesn't influence the election that much as far as helping. Only when the veep is perceived as a serious negative does it really make much difference. Sarah Palin likely hurt McCain because she wasn't well prepared and the media took full advantage of her slip-ups.

In this case, however, the VP candidate SHOULD be a major factor because Biden would almost have to be a short timer, meaning there's a high chance that the VP would become president. The GOP needs to put Biden's pick under the same scrutiny they will put him under and drive it into voters heads that Biden's running mate will likely end up as president. They need to highlight Heels up Harris's history and also her radical, Socialist positions so the people will stop and think about what they will get.

This is exactly what the GOP needs to do, but they won't.

I really thought Demmings had the inside track. She must have failed the background check, and that's saying a lot in a democratic race.

Agreed the Dems have 95% of the black vote. The strategy to choose a black VP would be to increase numbers at the polls like with Hussein O. I believe a black VP would motivate a lot of blacks that don't vote into going to the polls. By time the so called pastors/bishops at the AME churches get through at the pulpits it may motivate the turn out. I also agree with some of the points about libertarians and independents being turned off by certain choices. Problem there is DJT has some issues with those two groups also. He also turns off a lot of women voters who might be on the fence with his charming Yankee arsehole personality. I am concerned. Especially with SCOTUS picks in the sheep in wolves clothing Robert's court. Have I mentioned my disgust with the chief justice? He promised to interpret the constitution not add to it and create law like he has on several rulings.

I just can’t picture any sane and reasonable person who cares one bit about our country voting for Biden or the Dems this cycle. I can picture lots of people deciding to sit this one out by not voting though.

I agree with you but, sadly, about half the country would agree with that statement if you replaced Biden with Trump and Dems with Republicans.

Over the past year I have heard conservatives threaten they will just sit this election out. They can't stomach Trump, but won't vote for a liberal.

However, there are more reasons to vote for him, than the frustration that his stupid tweets are annoying and counter productive.

I think a top one is that Trump has shifted the direction the country was going by appointing judges who are constitutionalists. The courts get the final say in US politics, setting precedents that can shape the country for years to come.

He cut federal regulations and provided tax cuts that helped opened up the economic engine that creates jobs. Prior to covid, unemployment was at record lows; at the beginning of this year the number of job openings outnumbered the unemployed workers.

With work available, he implemented tighter work requirements for food stamps for able bodied adults.

Focused on Rust Belt states and give respect to white working-class voters, overlooked by the elites on both coasts.

Stood up to NATO countries for not ponying up enough money to cover the organization’s expenses and their own defense costs. My whole life I have heard how nato countries NEVER have paid what they owed...NEVER ...the USA always bore the cost for the world. Allies have increased defense spending by $130 billion since 2016. Almost twice as many allies are meeting their commitment to spend 2 percent of gross domestic product on defense today than before Trump arrived.

He pull out of the Paris Agreement on climate change and defy global warming alarmists. Which is just a big wealth distribution ponzi scheme.

His “maximum pressure” campaign was crippling Iran. Iran’s economy was contracting, inflation was spiraling and the regime had been forced to cut funding for its terrorist proxies, including Hezbollah and Hamas, the Iranian military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Mexico is finally enforcing its own immigration laws — sending thousands of National Guard forces to its southern border to stop caravans of Central American migrants. The migrants who did get to our border in San Diego have been made to stay in Mexico until their status is determined... most of them should seek asylum in Mexico since that is the first safe country they came to, if they were fleeing for safety. The USA does not have to rescue people for economic reasons, which until Trump, they came in blatantly, in mass, illegally and were given huge amounts of financial support that they were not and should not have been eligible to receive ... however because it was the humanitarian thing to do, the aid was given. And yet our own citizens increasingly struggle with homelessness due to mental problems and drug addiction which this country does not have funds to help.

Trump moved the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

He took on the news media, exposing bias and agenda driven journalism intended to run him out of office.

He continues to defy both the Republican and Democratic establishments and remains independent from the Washington swamp which I think is a good thing.

Well, Biden's delayed his VP announcement another week to just 2 days before the convention. The Libs are determined to milk this for all it's worth. I'm wondering though if it may backfire on them if the supporters of those NOT chosen don't have time to re-consider the choice before the convention. There may be some sore losers in the crowd and on line.
