I was taught the right way, but I was also taught that there were exceptions to the rule...

I understand that. It's a shame there are so many different exceptions. It was truly confusing for me in high school and I can't imagine what it's like today with all the influx of texting and email shorthand.

One thing about the English language, it is full of exceptions:

"i" before "e" ... and some times there are exceptions

One thing about the English language, it is full of exceptions:

"i" before "e" ... and some times there are exceptions

...except after "c." Isn't that wEIrd?
