The Demise of Legacy Media

That's part of it, but the market is over-saturated with 24 hour "news" channels. And news has taken a back seat to entertainment and sensationalism.

This al started when Ted Turner founded CNN. They quickly found that they couldn't "just" report the news 24 hours a day because it was just regurgitating the same ole crap over and over. So they made it entertaining. The colorful sets, the exciting audio background, the talking heads shows, editorials, etc. The focus went from journalism to holding people's attention.

Now there is countless 24 hour "news" stations. I don't watch even Fox news a lot, I get most of my news from the internet.
