I don't get it, people constantly getting their body inked. I don't nor desire to have my skin invaded......I'll manage to tan at will!!!! :suntn

I don't get the attraction. I don't care if you do, so I would really prefer if those who are more "enlightened" than I would not judge my decision not to tattoo. :girlsaysno

I have many family and friends that chose to do it, it's not for me. I don't find it attractive, and can only imagine what a poor choice some will realise in about 20 or so. JMO

I truly hope it's a fad that passes soon. Although, I do shudder at what could be next.

My first memory of a tatoo my Grandfather had, he had it inked while serving in the Navy during WW1. Today's crowd seems to want to place something as "what's going on today"

The first tatoo I remember seeing was on a guy who used to work in the parts dept of a farm implement co. I was around 8 and remember thinking he must have been in the service. Of course it was of a girl. He would flex his muscle and she would move. lol

My Mother would not even let us write on our hands or arms with an ink pen and I'm very thankful for that. I don't care for them, would never entertain the idea of getting one.

They are certainly not my idea of art just as graffiti is not either.

I used to think it was a fad, but it has been going on for quite a few years.

I also don't get it. I don't see any big deal about something "tasteful" and easily hidden when you are in the work environment. But getting "sleeves" and covering most of their exposed skin ... nope, I don't get it.

I would like to invest in whomever comes up with a way to easily, and painlessly, remove them in abut 15 years. I'm betting by then there will be quite a few of today's younger people that are ready to get rid of them.

If you want a tattoo, whatever, I do not care. I do prefer you not get yourself a tramp stamp and then bend over in a class you are teaching with a too short shirt. That is all.

I love tattoos! When they are well placed, well designed & thought out, they are art. Sleeves can only be pulled of by the young, FIRM armed peeps. But even they will end up looking ridiculous when they age.

I have one. It's well placed, can easily be hidden, or shown off, & I drew my own design. It will mean something to me for the rest of my life.

Personally, I don't care for them. IMO, it's like putting a bumper sticker on a Ferrari; it takes away from the overall beauty of the body it's on.

Having stated...we don't all have the same tastes, so to each their own.

But I do agree with Mac that removing tats will be a lucrative business some day.

I have two; one on each upper arm. The one on the right is an eagle with our nation's flag. The other is a guitar and has musical names around it with "FOX" below it. I've been around many of you and I bet you never knew I had them.

I think tattoos are a personal choice and I could care less if someone has them or not. I think some go overboard with it by doing their face or neck. I also would never do the full arm sleeves.

I've seen some tats that were really good pieces of art, but I've also seen some that made me say to myself, "My gosh what were they thinking?"

What really makes me cringe is all the weird body piercings you see now; especially those on the face.

Truly, I don't care if someone has a tattoo. I've seen some that I really like and some I just don't understand. I may stare for a moment at those I consider "overdone" but it's truly not in judgement, more curiosity. :dunno I haven't found anything that I'd truly want to do. Although, if I had to choose, I'd have my kids footprints done. :dunno

For me, it's more that those who scream most loudly about "don't judge me" are actually judging me because I don't have one.

I think many place things on their body that they view as beautiful art. I would prefer my art on canvas, in a beautiful frame.

Later, when there are other beautiful things that I enjoy, they can also be displayed in a frame in my home.

Several 18 and 19 year olds have told me they were going to get a tattoo to memorialize a friend or relative who died. Just think of all the tats they will have as they age, if this is their only way of dealing with death?

I also know that skin sags, bags, gets varicose veins, and age spots. What will these tats look like as these people age? Blech. :sick
