Some changes to The Hwy

As time permits, there will be some changes coming on The Hwy. We'll be doing some streamlining and rearranging, and several under-performing forums will be done away with. We've noticed that some of the forums rarely get checked, and some good content is going unnoticed. This should make The Hwy look less cluttered and easier to navigate.

If all goes as planned, no recent posts or threads will be deleted, but they will be moved to the General Discussion forum. The older posts/threads might not be saved.

Once complete, I will post a more detailed explanation of changes.

I would love a "new topics" "new reply" refresh at the bottom of the thread page.

I use "page up" now ... then I have to scroll more to get to the top ... would love one at the bottom.

My old laptop is bad at scrolling ... actually it has some buggy problems, so the less I have to do to open the next thread ... the better off I am.

Look at the top underneath "Hello Far West" You'll see "Show unread posts since last visit."

It has some limits though, so don't rely on it alone. This software is not perfect.

That is waaaaay beyond my skillz. I will alert Rolltide though to see if he can do anything.

OK, that went quicker than I thought. Here are the forums that are gone and how it will affect us.

A lot of the content we had in special forums are things you would discuss in a coffee shop. So we're moving most of it to...The Coffee Shop, and the forum there known as General Discussion. This way the topics won't be spread out as much. We found that a lot of the topics were being overlooked, and we're hopeful that these changes will remedy that. All this is subject to change if it doesn't work out.


Youtubes---Now we should post them in the form that is appropriate for the content. EX: If it's a political video, post it in Politics.

The Joker---Again, put jokes in the appropriate forum. Mostly in General Discussion, but if of a specific theme it should go in that forum. EX: Political jokes in the political forum. Edgy jokes or those of adult content (this means you, UM ;D )need to be in Area 51.

Fun and Games---Again, put it where it best fits.

Hey Sport---Sports Discussions are typically best in general discussion. If you don't like sports discussion, just please ignore them.

Church Announcements---Announcements (EX: Bake Sale at He's Da Man Church this Saturday) may be posted in General Discussion. But any actually religious discussion should still go in Religion.

The Drive In---Movies and Book reviews should typically go in General Discussion.

Please continue to put anything that is of edgy content or needs a higher level of security in Area 51. The forums in this category can be seen only by logged-in members, and are not visible to search engines. However, if your topic is not sensitive, please post in an area viewable to guests in hopes that they will find interesting content.

I believe that we have gone over this before, yes, most hit new topics, new replies. :taunt You don't for some reason. It does not work great when going between phone and laptop because it thinks you have seen it when you might not have clicked it. But if it makes you feel better to think some topics will get noticed more by being in general discussion we can let you. )
