Socialism at its most transparent state....

We should send every Bernie Sanders wanna B snowflake to Venezuela so they can see what happens with the experiment they want to thrust on America with their naive understanding of what he is proposing.... From one of my fun reads... The Skimm

Adios.

General Motors just said the same to Venezuela. Yesterday, GM - one of the world’s largest car companies - pulled out of the country.

This was after the Venezuelan government pulled up to GM’s plant and said ‘this is ours now, gracias.’

Yes, this is normal. Venezuela’s socialist leadership has taken over more than 1,400 businesses since the late ’90s, including in the oil and energy sector.

Venezuela’s economy relies on oil money. And since oil’s been gettin’ low in recent years, Venezuela’s economy has not been feeling too hot. That includes the auto industry. Case in point: this Venezuelan GM plant hasn’t actually produced a car since 2015. GM says this came “unexpectedly.”

Venezuela’s not saying anything.
But GM’s 2,700 employees - who were still getting paid - are now officially out of a job. So that’ll really help the economy.

What's amazing to me is that there are still enough brainwashed people down there to support the government.

Of course, the government gives *them* guns and tells them to shoot the protestors, so I guess they enjoy the power of being on the inside and that might explain it.

What a freaking mess.

Thank you for posting this; I had meant too, but couldn't get around to it.

Even more amazing, Sound Man, is so many of our own citizens here are still calling for more Socialism in the government. And mostly not because of any great understanding of how these things work, but because the Democratic Party has fed them full of lies and propaganda which has caused them to have a seething hatred of everything the other party does or supports. We're too the point to where the merit of any bill or initiative is not whether it's good or bad, but according to which party does it. The ignorance and lack of critical thinking has become truly frightening!

But back on topic...no one should think that this couldn't happen here. We've survived a move toward Socialism longer than most have simply because of our vast financial resources. But that is running increasingly thin, and I truly believe that had Hillary won we would have seen some of the things that are happening in Venezuela starting to happen here. Time will tell whether or not Trump reverses the unsustainable course we've been on; but choosing between impending doom and the possibility of positive change is still a no brainer.

What concerns me is there is very little news coverage of Venezuela's current situation. Sure, there's a few brief news clips but you have to look closely to find them.

Of course not. The idealists of the media that support the socialistic propaganda of the Democratic party are sure that it's our fault somehow that the great experiment is failing in Venezuela, so they are not going to advertise the failure. Shoot, that might cause some of the party faithful to start thinking!!

That's a tall order!

Venezuela crisis: I flew to U.S. to buy toilet paper
http://money.cnn.com/2016/09/28/news/economy/venezuela-bring-food-home/index.html?iid=EL

So what I don't understand is that those that flee bad countries like Venezuela, for instance, will then try to force the new country they live in to adopt the same structure they left. Hello... you can not do the same thing and expect a different outcome!

Most of these governments they flee are socialist... (there has not been one socialist country who has ever had sustained prosperity) these immigrants to the US for instance, figure there is so much in the US, why shouldn't they give poor people things like food, housing, big screen TV's, and free phones?

The concept that once a person gains no rewards for hard work, no one will truly seek to achieve, is lost on many people.

Years of excessive government spending on welfare programs, poorly managed facilities and dilapidated farms set the stage for the crisis in Venezuela, however there are many countries that are not that far behind... :stirpot::stirpot: Look at the country of California
:stirpot::stirpot:

It makes me cringe when I see the protests now that EVERYTHING IS A RIGHT.

No, you have the right to work hard and buy the things you would like. We all must make choices of what we spend our resources on. If you choose a big screen TV, but you do not pay your light bill, you will be sitting in the dark and the TV will have no value.

The government has seized guns from citizens who do not proclaim strong support for the government and distributed them to their supporters. Videos of rampant vigilante political assasination have hit the internet in spite of government controls on communication. This folks is the next to the last act of the socialist play. Complete genocidal Fascism will soon be followed by a popular uprising that will install another tyrant until the people eventually catch on and overthrow the government. They have officially run out of other people's money.
