I heard something about she had time served so it would not be a whole 5 years. Neighbors are mowing and I could not hear the whole thing.

She received 5 years on each count that she will serve concurrently and will get credit for time served (which was almost a year).

So 4 years in prison and most likely an early release for "good behavior" ?

He only said that she would have to "serve five years" and that he would credit her with her time served. I didn't hear if he addressed parole.

She will be back home before her kids get out of school for next summer. Isn't this basically the same deal she was offered pretrial, minus the first offender status?? So the manipulative biatch did make out better by going to court.

Her lawyers have said that they will appeal, but I have my doubts. If the judge decides not to release her pending appeal, then she will have basically served her time before her appeal comes to trial.

Yep. The state system will cut her at least 2 for 1 and of course give her credit for time served. Serve 4 literally means, serve 2 at most. I'm putting my money on 18 months at the outside.

That's a shame. I really believe she should have been tried for conspiracy to commit murder, at a minimum.

Conspiracy is really hard to prove, and they couldn't even get a conviction on the perjury charges related to her having knowledge of the crime before being told by police. They simply didn't have any proof.

Personally, I think she manipulated Neuman for her own benefit. I can't say if she knew he would actually kill her husband, or if she helped plan it. I can say that she would, be capable of doing that just from how I've seen her act in public and from testimony. But being capable and actually doing it are two different things. I believe she has some culpability if not outright guilt.

Of course, ltd, you are right. It just angers me that she's actually getting away with it, IMHO. I do believe she played Neuman, and he was an idiot. I believe she knew exactly what Neuman was doing (based on her phone records).

Agreed. I just wish the prosecutors had put off trying Hemy until he agreed to testify against her in exchange for the death penalty being taken off the table. They did that very well in the Harper/Reynolds murder case in Floyd County a year or two ago, and she went to jail when she otherwise wouldn't have. He held out till his trial was ready to start, and he finally gave in. Kudos to that prosecutor for holding his feet to the fire.

The appeal may have less to do with spending time in jail than with other things ... like the civil case coming up and life insurance monies.

I'm hoping the DA has not closed this case. I'm hoping they are still investigating and will charge her again, with more serious charges, at a later date.

I'm willing to guess that the case is closed. If they had any credible evidence that could have led to more serious charges (like the earlier murder charge), they would have had them in this case. So, short of someone coming up with a smoking gun, the DA is done with this and will focus on the appeal.

The impression I got from a radio interview the other day was that she would be able to claim insurance monies even with the perjury charges since she wasn't specifically implicated in his murder. :wut :faint

I do know that the Sneiderman family is suing her so the guilty verdicts will help their case.

I do hope there is a way to secure all insurance monies and inheritance for the benefit of the children only.

Those poor kids. Don't you know they will ALWAYS wonder what their mother's involvement was in the death of their father. :(

I feel very badly for them. I'm just hoping someone has been proactive enough to start them in therapy.
