She talked me into it.

aka "The Jackal"
Well we went to the store today and bought a fake Christmas tree for the cabin. I have never had a fake tree in my life, even when I lived in a dorm room, my room mate would have a shrub of some sort to put gum and popcorn on. That was my suggestion, but She Who Tolerates Me wanted a "pencil tree" which apparently is as rare in the wild as a Panda in Panama. I do get my real tree at home, however, for my crazy decorate the woods where nobody can see indoor and outdoor lighting extravaganza.

Oh, and I just realized that from here on out I will be decorating two houses. I hadn't counted on that.

That's why you love her so, she won't let you grow old. :love

We have, too. Ours is not prelit, I still get to put the lights on. Any that I want to. :)

I wanted a fake tree because I wanted to use a rotating stand, can't do that with a live one. Electricity and water don't mix, so I've been told. :whistle

I will come look if you do an extravaganza!!! :))

We always had a fake tree growing up. But since meeting MrB, he would hear of such. We always have a real one. I can't wait to get one up and decorate the house. It'll be BabyB's first Christmas when he'll get excited. :love

Fake one here too. Hated throwing away all that $ every year.

Succumbed to the pre-lit fake one a few years ago. I love Frasier Firs, but they had gotten $$$ and i got tired of the clean-up. Now, if too many lights burn out, I throw it away and get another one in an after Christmas sale.

I may go back to a live tree in a few years, still love that smell.

You can accomplish the same "smell" with real wreaths or real garland. We have several cedar trees on our property so I just go cut a few limbs and it "smells" like Christmas.

All you have to do after Christmas is unplug the lights, pick up the tree and carry the whole thing and put in a closet or the garage until next year. :laugh

Gave up on the real tree years ago. The joy of picking out the best tree, carrying the thing in the house only to try and level it, continued watering and vacuum the fallen needles...............was the joy of dragging it out back and torching it. INSTANT bonfire!!!

Growing up, we always had a fake tree. When I married my husband, he wanted a real tree. It was wonderful, and we enjoyed it while it lasted.

When the youngest was diagnosed with allergies/asthma, the real tree had to go. So, now we have fake again.

The upside is no mess, and every year, I literally take it downstairs into storage and just cover it up. (I do take off glass ornaments.) With our busy lives, it's probably best. :)

We'll go together! I do some outdoor decorating, too, and have a fake tree, but only because my mother wants one. I LOVE real trees.

I used to go ALL out decorating for Christmas. Now I get "scroogie" acting near Christmas time and don't want to decorate at all. It's not that I don't love Christmas time, cause I really do, but the decorating part of it does nothing for me anymore. Last year our pre-lit tree died finally and I threw it out soon as Christmas was over. My kids had to always talk me into putting it up each year. When I threw it out, my daughter and son both said, well great, we won't ever have a tree again. That broke my heart :'( So I guess I will purchasing a new tree, may not be a big 7ft one again, but there will be a tree of some sort, but it will not be a real one, me and my son would be sick all month with our allergies.
