Robert F. Kennedy Jr files to run for president

Well, I've been saying for awhile that something was coming that would change the dynamic. Maybe this is it.

But, I'm still expecting something else. An alliance.

I heard rumblings of Bernie Sanders being pushed to run again but I’m not sure if it’s accurate.
Bernie doesn't concern me, I don't see him getting much support anymore. Plus he's demonstrated that he's more than willing to roll over and support the Democratic candidate when the party dangles money in his face.

I've been reading up on this. Lots of different opinions, I would need to see some polling on just who supports him to have a better opinion. I keep seeing that some disenchanted Biden votes are leaning toward him, as are some independents. But he does have a small following of Republican voters because of his anti-vax policies.

So I dunno, could go either way. I've been saying for a long time that this election will be one for the record books.

I have to be honest here. If he ran as an Independent and Trump was the Republican nominee, I would consider voting for Kennedy.

You have indicated you might not vote for Trump because of his moral positions don't match yours. And I do understand that, BTW. I get the "voting your conscience" thing.

But let's think this through logically.

RFK Jr is pro choice and supports the LBGTQxyz movement. I believe both of those issues would conflict with your personal standards, as they do mine.

And, a vote for RFK would potentially take a vote away from the only other candidate who has a statistical chance of beating Biden (or whoever). I think we all here agree that the Democratic nominee will be pro abortion, pro LBGTQxyz, pro illegal immigration, etc etc, Socialist. All things that likely conflict with our moral standards.

So how would voting for Kennedy resolve your moral dilemma with voting for Trump?

Not trying to beat up on you, just making a logical argument.

His mind is made up,, don't confuse him with the facts !! :coffeespit:

I'm not confused at all. When one considers something, they do some research to find facts. I know little about Kennedy, so I am conducting my own research. I found this today.

“I do not believe that there is, within that second amendment, that there’s anything we can meaningfully do to reduce the trade in the ownership of guns,” he said, “and I’m not going to take people’s guns away.”

“Anybody who tells you that they’re going to be able to reduce gun violence through gun control at this point I don’t think is being realistic,” Kennedy added.

His emphasis on refusing to infringe on Americans’ constitutional rights echoes a common Republican position on the limitations of responding to gun violence through gun control.

Donald Trump himself praised Mr Kennedy last month, as "a very smart guy and a good guy", while Roger Stone, a prominent Trump ally, has repeatedly promoted the idea that they run on the same ticket.

I found this interesting. How would y'all feel if RFK, Jr. was Trump's running mate?

So RFKs position on gun control trumps (see what I did there?) his beliefs of real moral issues such as abortion and trannies?

I realize that this is probably a small group, but there a bunch of hardcore Trump supporters on Twitter that state they would vote for RFK in the general election if DeSantis ends up being the Republican nominee.

That's not what I am saying at all. I asked you this before, and you never answered: what is Trump's position on abortion today? Is it the same as it was in 2016 when he campaigned, saying he would be the president to defend the unborn? Is it the same as it was after Roe v Wade was struck down, and he agreed the states should regulate it? Or is it something else today?

I have said this about abortion before. I'm against it, but it should never have been a political issue. I believe if a woman decides to have an abortion, it's something between her and God.
