Our home computer is 2 months dead and I really can't say that I miss it much. I've been using my little Asus or my phone to check on all things, internet. Mrs. Colson has been using Daugther Colson's Apple (not sure which model) when she is not using it for school. And.....lemme tell you something....it is everything Daughter Colson has been bragging about ever since she got it. She's had it for 2 years and it runs as smooth as the day she took it out of the box. 8)

So, in the next couple of weeks, Mrs. Colson and I are going to smooth over to the Apple store where Daughter Colson's BF just started working and pick up a Apple 13.3" MacBook Air. I can't wait to play with that puppy! :DN

I've always heard that one you go Mac, you never go back (no comments from you, MacDaddy). But I have to stay with Windows for bid'ness.

I have had a Mac since 2002 and would never go back. I also run windows in bootcamp on mine and it is great. But I only use windows on it when I have to as the Mac OS is much more reliable for me. I still have a 2006 MacBook that works like a champ and it was the cheapest version even back then.

Hey, I'm good with whatever works for you.

Me, my go to is a Dell laptop at home. At work, a Dell laptop (given where I work that is a no brainer).

Mrs. Mac has a Asus pad. I have a couple of desktops that are home-built.

I bought the first flat-screen iMac many years ago. It doesn't do a good job streaming video, but it's still a great machine. It's also a bit slow in editing photos taken with my current camera (15 minutes to straighten a picture). However, for a lot of the work I do, it's just fine. It's now 8 years old.

I actually love my MacBook Air (13 inch). I wish I had one of the newer laptops, but I really do love it. It's a great machine. I kind of want one of the brand new iMacs, but I've learned portability is a lot better, so, unless I become rich, I'll stick to laptops.

Go with the Apple machine. They do well. At school I've been through three machines. They quickly show their age. They were all Acers and Windows machines besides. In Acer's defense, I have a Linux server that is now 6 years old and an Acer. It runs 10 thin clients and the only thing I have seen that limits it is that I can't seem to put a graphics card in it.

ETA: I once owned an Asus Netbook (with Linux). I loved that thing. Then, one day the fan started buzzing and the machine froze. The computer repair people said the motherboard failed, but I knew it failed because of the fan. Low quality equipment. Same thing with Acer: low quality parts. Apples are expensive, but I compare them to the Toyota I drive. You pay for quality.
