I'm sure he wants to be, but I'll be surprised if Trump picks him. I think Trump will chose either a woman or Tim Scott.I think he now is thinking he has a good shot at being Trump's running mate.
I'd be really surprised if it were Scott. Trump himself said in an interview with NBC in September that he hasn’t thought too much about the role but added he “likes the concept” of a woman as vice president.I'm sure he wants to be, but I'll be surprised if Trump picks him. I think Trump will chose either a woman or Tim Scott.
I suspect there's too much bad blood there. And I don't see DeSantis accepting #2 spot. Here's a news story that says a new poll shows Trump supporters wanting DeSantis to be Trump's V-P.

In 1960, JFK chose his biggest rival, LBJ, as his running mate. LBJ had run against JFK for the nomination. Kennedy was a Catholic, and Catholics had never done well in national elections. Kennedy needed a protestant running mate. Pennsylvania and California each had 32 electoral votes, but Pennsylvania had never elected a Catholic to federal or state office. Texas had 24 electoral votes Kennedy also needed, and he felt Johnson could deliver that state.I suspect there's too much bad blood there. And I don't see DeSantis accepting #2 spot.
I can see it being popular with the voters, just be surprised if either man would do it.In 1960, JFK chose his biggest rival, LBJ, as his running mate. LBJ had run against JFK for the nomination. California was a red state, which made winning Pennsylvania and Texas more important for Kennedy to win. When it was all said and done, Kennedy received 49.72% of the popular vote to Nixon's 49.55%. Kennedy took the Electoral College 303-219. BTW, Kennedy took Texas by less than 2% of the vote.
It's possible that if Trump won the nomination, it could become necessary to take DeSantis as his running mate. BTW, the best Johnson did in the primary polls was 14%. During the last five months of primary polling, Kennedy led Johnson by double digits. The last poll had Kennedy with 41% to Johnson's 11%.
I suspect there's too much bad blood there. And I don't see DeSantis accepting #2 spot.
I think he may be willing to compromise if Trump did make an offer. He would be an idiot for not accepting if his polling numbers are falling like reported. He should have sat out this cycle, it would be an opportunity to salvage his political career as well as potentially locking in 12 years of a Republican POTUS.I suspect there's too much bad blood there. And I don't see DeSantis accepting #2 spot.
You make a good point. If Trump did win and had a good run, DeSantis would be set to be the heir to the throne. He needs some kind of stepping stone at this point; his campaign has been pretty much a failure. And that's really a shame, but it is what it is.I think he may be willing to compromise if Trump did make an offer. He would be an idiot for not accepting if his polling numbers are falling like reported. He should have sat out this cycle, it would be an opportunity to salvage his political career as well as potentially locking in 12 years of a Republican POTUS.
DeSantis as Haley's VP?
