Proposed 2013-2014 calendar ...

my baby will be in college .... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The going back tgo school for 1 day after Christmas break doesn't bug you? That one makes zero sense to me.

It doesn't make sense, but it also didn't make sense to me that year when the first day of school was on a Friday. I do like that the break starts on a Monday...it seems to have better flow for me. I don't know, I guess I'm a little odd that way! :))

I hate it. I am one of those crazies who doesn't like all the breaks. If I was able to stay at home with my kids, it might be different, but I can't. My youngest comes to work with me (which is a blessing) but we don't really get to enjoy that time.

Another complaint I have (which thankfully will soon no longer be a problem) is that this calendar is really hard when you have a blended family and share custody.

Just for example...we split the 2 weeks of Christmas break. Every other year we swap...one parent has the week before, and the other has the week after. We've never had good terms with my husband's ex, so we literally have to go by the papers to avoid conflict. When the break doesn't begin until the 20th, one parent will have a hard time making all the plans with respective family events, vacation, etc.

Certainly, you can't please everyone and I would never expect an entire school system to revolve around what I want/need, but with the changes, it makes it hard!

I can see that being difficult! When I was a kid, my parents had a similar arrangement. When the schools switched to year round schooling, they had to go back and change the arrangement and it was a mess.
