Too many homeless are on the streets because they are suffering from mental illness.
They are often armed, not with guns, but broken bottles, knives, and other things that would hurt you. We had a parking garage that a group would sleep in the protection of the foyer of the elevator on the top floors. We had to tell the cleaning crew not to go there until after 6:30 AM because if they surprised this group they would become violent. The police did patrol there at night especially when it rained or was cold. Most of them the police knew by name. Several the police would arrest because they had been told not to come back because they were violent.
Can't say I would sponsor any of them to have guns.
