I'm here to spin the moral compass.
Okay, last night, I had a new experience. I had a child dish out some serious pouting on me. Now, this wasn't the princess - she's more of a drama queen "you're the meanest mom in the world" kinda girl. This was quiet pouting.... And it worked!!
Let me explain: I help with the Awanas at church. Last night, one of our Cubbies brought an extra princess costume to share (it was a prince/princess/superhero theme night). This girl has NOT wanted to be in Awanas, and gives her parents grief every week about going. But last night, she brought the extra costume and actually came into church smiling!! When I checked her in, I told one of the other adults that I was going to find a little treat for her since she was not only happy to be there, but was thoughtful enough to make sure her little friends could participate (she is truly an adorably sweet girl). Well, I found a purple necklace to give her and I gave it to her away from her friends.
BUT, when I saw the kiddos in the hallway a little while later, one of her little friends had the saddest look on her face. When I asked what was wrong, she wouldn't even speak to me. She just looked sad!! So, I gave her a hug and asked her if she wanted to talk about it. She shook her sweet little head no. I asked her if there was something I could do to help her feel better (i.e., I took the bait). She simply said, "a necklace might make me feel better." And, of course, I said "yes."
I was totally taken by this sweet girl and she knew it!!! Her parents just laughed when I told them what happened... I was foiled by a 4 year old and she wasn't even mine....
Please tell me y'all fall for that stuff too...
