Pursuit Driver
So I ran away last week and went to Dad's place in the Blue Ridge mountains in VA. He has 35 acres in Washington, VA basically right where the Skyline Drive portion of the Appalachian Trail is. Shenandoah National Park area. His place is just to the east of that.

Here is where the kids and I spent a good bit of our time ... day and night:

And here is a bit more of the scenery/views:

A few more pictures and details to come.

Beautiful.

Take me next time you go. I promise I won't take up much room, and I don't eat a lot. :whistle

Took this picture of the pool during last year's visit ...

And some other previous shots of the "farm"

This last one is "Old Rag" Mountain ... it's said to be an old Indian that laid down and never got up. You can see what looks to be the profile of an American Indian if you look at it right.

That area of VA is beautiful. Thanks for sharing the pics.

What a gorgeous place!! I would have been tempted to stay.
It's always very hard to leave. Between the place and the family ... :( (... and facing the 10 hour drive back.)

Lovely. :love

My kids learned to drive Gators on my brother’s farm, then drive the farm trucks before they were permitted… on private land, farming, it’s okay.

I think they are both much better drivers because of that experience, and they took to driving on real streets once they had their permits very readily. (It was not scary to drive with them like other parent's stories about their experiences teaching their kids to drive.) Keep her driving those Gators as she grows up!

What a neat experience for your kids to be on their grandparent's farm in such a beautiful setting!!! :thumbsup

I grew up on a farm and learned to drive a manual transmission truck when I was 10. Daddy was hauling hay, and he and Mother were both working with the bales and they needed someone to drive. The transmission was sticky (some of you will know what I'm talking about) and I can drive pert near anything. ;)
