It's comical the left began accusing Trump of the derailment of the train before the NTSB even started its investigation. It turns out it is the railroad's fault because a car had an overheated axle that caused it and dozens more to derail after the train was stopped.
 
Larger, More Catastrophic Train Wreck Reported At 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. In Washington, D.C.


WASHINGTON, D.C. — In the wake of a recent surge of train derailments across the United States, emergency crews were being called to the scene of an even larger, more catastrophic train wreck reported at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C.

"This disaster is exponentially worse than any of the other railway incidents that have occurred in the last few weeks," said Josh Christophersen, lead investigator on the scene for the National Transportation Safety Board. "The scale, the destruction, the long-lasting damage this one will leave behind…this one really takes the cake. I'm really not even sure how we can clean up after this."

Train derailments have become a pressing issue, particularly after the serious incident in East Palestine Ohio, in which a train derailed and released massive quantities of highly toxic chemicals, contaminating the air, water, and soil in the region. This larger disaster in Washington, D.C., however, could be far more dangerous, experts say. "We can't even accurately estimate the risks posed by this catastrophe," said Professor Blake Rumsey of the Center for Ecological Research & Education. "It's possible that this wreck could, in fact, destroy the entire world. It has already done horrific damage around the globe in a variety of ways."

At publishing time, the Biden administration was set to receive a briefing on the disaster, with President Biden himself reportedly vowing to determine the cause of the train wreck, identify the person most responsible, and do whatever is deemed necessary to hold that person accountable.

 
The Rear Admiral's press secretary will not answer any questions.. they are all useless... and our tax dollars pay for these ne'er do wells.

And apparently he just left after literally being there just long enough todo a photo opp.

I saw parts of the NTSB preliminary report on BLANCOLARIO youtube channel which usually does airplane problems. The train consisted of 149 cars, two front end engines and one DPU at about car 110. The car with the bad bearing was number 23. The last detector showed the bearing was over 200 degrees above ambient and sounded the alarm to the engineer who promptly went into dynamic braking. Shortly thereafter they noticed smoke and a fire behind them and that the train had derailed. The two detectors prior to the last showed the bearing was at 40 degrees above ambient and 100 degrees above ambient respectively. The detectors do not trigger a failure until 173 degrees above ambient is detected. The temperature was 10 degrees F at the time of the derailment. It is still unclear why car 23 jumped the track and dug in causing the next 40 cars to accordion. Hazardous chemical responders were the ones who decided to drain the other cars and do a controlled burn due to the nature of vinyl chloride it has a tendency to polymerize around heat. If that happens when contained it explodes. Of other interest, cars 67 and 68 were loaded with malt liquor, and suffered no damage.
