Omlets in a bag

Thought I would share something I learned this weekend. My cousin who I went to visit told me about these and I didn't think it would work till we tried it. It was actually very good.

Ziploc Omelets

You will need:
ziploc bag (the ones that zip closed)
2 or 3 eggs
Boiling pot filled with water
and anything you like to go in an omlet (shredded cheese, tomatos, onions, peppers..etc etc)

Turn pot of water on and bring to a boil. Crack open eggs into the ziploc bag and zip closed and shake eggs until mixed. Reopen ziploc bag and add ingrediants (be careful not to over-add)
Once water is boiling, close ziploc, drop into boiling water and set timer for 13 minutes. After 13 minutes remove from water, use scissors to cut open bag (be careful of the steam), dump omlet onto plate and season to your liking and enjoy.

It was so easy and they were good =)

Mac, we used the freezer ones...but if you can make it fit in the sandwich ones, I would think it would work

Okay this might be a dumb question, but if you have a stove to boil a pot of water why not just make an omelet in a frying pan?

well it's supposed to be easy to keep you from using up bowls and frying pans. Its really fun if you have guest over to let each make their own bag and then just drop and boil them =) Makes cleanup very simple =) Probably would be fun for kids to make their own omlet to

I'm all over the clean-up thing.

Mrs. Mac is a great cook! One thing we have had fun adjusting to is our different styles. If I can cook an entire meal, on a paper plate, in the microwave, that is my goal! For her, well let's just say we can fill the dishwasher with plates and pans after cooking and eating a single meal.

;)

I do use pots and pans, but if I can achieve the same results with a "no muss" / "no fuss" method then I'm all over it!!!

I was thinking it would be freezer, simply because the sandwich bags are pretty flimsy.

{Mac checking to make sure we have freezer ziploc bags here in the apartment}

We actually had these for breakfast Saturday while we were CAMPING!! I love that there is no clean up and everyone can put in what they want. :)

Yep, freezer bags and the kids love making them. Well, the adults cook for the little ones. :D

I always wondered why if they have to mess up one word in that phrase, it would be the other way around.

NO MESS, NO FESS :tapfoot2

Back to the topic. I think I'd like to try these. Mrs. Reacher be liking eggs & cheese. Me, I'll add the onions :DN

I saw this recipe some time back and thought it was a neat idea for kids or if you have a crowd. It seems if you make more than a couple of omelets, some are getting cold whilst others are finishing.

No, don't use the regular sandwich ones. You risk the bag melting. use the freezer bags, they are thicker. Just FYI, if you google them, the bag companies will recommend that you don't do this. We've done it at home, and it worked fine.
