mmmmmm Bacon Grease

I have found the Quaker version of Martha Stewart and she has happy chickens! I love this recipe, she uses, mmmmmm, "bacon fat" with little bacon pieces in it. She seems like she would be a truly lovely person. I just wasn't ready for a Quaker to be so camera ready. Yes, I know it's the Amish who are camera shy but still.

Is she really a Quaker, or is it just her gimmick?

I truly believe that she is Quaker. She has a few other videos, one is how to feed a baby goat. cute!

btw, I believe I would opt for butter instead of the bacon grease in this recipe altho I have used bacon grease in green beans and it is quite tasty. lol

LOL at the bacon grease. My grandmother would have a tin coffee can next to her stove where she would drain the bacon grease into. Then she would scoop out the harden grease to use in many dishes such as green beans, fried eggs, etc

I had popcorn made with bacon grease once. It was very good.

No God-fearing Southerner would attempt to make scrambled eggs without some bacon grease! :))

Saving it, without the icky tidbits in it, is an art form. I use in cornbread, fried corn, scrambled eggs, green beans, fried squash with onions...yummy! The only thing better in green beans is a nice hunk of fatback! Double yummy!

Are you for real or kidding? (I am not sure since you put the God fearing Southerner comment)

Kind of both really. I associate the use of fatback and bacon grease with southern cooking. Although it may be used everywhere else.
