Male Circumcision Ban on Ballot! This is Overstepping In My Opinion!

What right does the government have to ban this? Leave it to San Francisco to try something like this. :tapfoot2

A proposal to ban the circumcision of male children in San Francisco has been cleared to appear on the November ballot, setting the stage for the nation’s first public vote on what has long been considered a private family matter.

I'm sure the Jewish community in SF will vote against this. What is the point of putting this on the ballot you ask? I suspect it is related homosexuality. There will be all kinds of opposition to this referendum before November. The opposition will say this is a private matter and no government entity has the right to interfere in the private affairs of the people. It's nothing more than political baiting.

I think there was mention of the Muslim population having religious issues with it too. I think this is a private decision and I have
always heard it was a health issue too. Some people just think they have to contol everything! Good to see you here copschick!
I like your sense of humor and the way you think.

thanks NJ!
And there are sanitary issues with not being circumsized...its just not clean. No offense to any of you guys who are not...

This is why I almost didn't put this story in the headlines ... no way to comment on headlines stories w/o starting a thread to go with.

When I did the headlines yesterday I was having a hard time deciding to add this story. When it's along these lines and I think folks are likely to want to comment I tend to post it as a news thread instead of a headline.

Just thinking out loud, so to speak.

Did you post it somewhere and did I miss it? I did not see it before I posted it. I thought it was worth commenting on.

I put it in the headlines (top of the page) yesterday but you were right to post it in a thread. It's what I should have done ... it is absolutely comment-worthy.

The current headlines are:

News:

Former IMF chief Strauss-Kahn gets bail in sex assault case

No sign Pakistan knew bin Laden whereabouts: U.S.

China general says his military no match for US

Circumcision ban to appear on San Francisco ballot

You can click the links at the top of the page to read the articles but in order to comment, a thread needs to be started.

That's what I'm rambling about. :))
