So, I'm in Kentucky tonight. We're headed for W. Virginia (one of my very favorite states in the whole country!!!), but got kinda a late start, so we stopped here. Fall is Mother's favorite time of year, so I try to go with her when she wants to go look at leaves. We get along marvelously well, and travel very well together, even though we are opposite in personality. We're both very laid-back, though, so we toddle along pretty well.
We came up 75...leaves were dull till Knoxville...from Knoxville to the state line, they were STUNNING. I love Central Tennessee...it's more rolling hills than mountains, and has the most marvelous rocky bluffs all over. And then you climb way up onto the Cumberland Plateau, and it's just really pretty. We are in eastern Kentucky...MEGA horse farms and cattle ranches. I grew up on a farm (as you know), so I am totally enjoying seeing this stuff. Everywhere we've been seems to be pretty prosperous...building stuff going on, restaurants busy, etc. Leaves here aren't as stunning as they were in Tennessee, but they're still very nice.
Tomorrow, we're gonna try to find a rustic cabin at one of the state parks in W. Va. They have great state parks, and their rustic cabins have electricity and running water, and that's about it. They're stuck way up in the woods, and heat is by fireplace, etc. I'm looking forward to it.
Anybody else seen any good leaves this year?
