ipod touch HELP!

My friend gave my daughter an ipod touch (probably gen 3 or less (no camera)). She reset the screen before she gave it to her. All it shows is a picture of a cord and "Itunes".

I'm stupid about this stuff! What do I need to do to get it going and put some games on it?

Download itunes and install on a computer. Hook up USB cable to ipod and computer to activate it.
