I am not sure how to connect the link from the article I posted on my facebook, but please feel free to go to my facebook and read the article wendyfenner (and a bunch of wendy fenners will show up- I am wearing a bright red jacket , my daughter with me, its an outside photo)

The world is not only upside down, but turned inside out.

I didnt stop to think that some people may not be on Facebook.... basically just go to Fox News and in the search bar, enter the word "kirpan" ....the article I am speaking of is in there. It is basically a relgious dagger worn by Sikhs, must be worn , according to religious rules. So a Michigan ( ah, yess, isnt that the state with the largest population of....) school district has now decided to let the boys wear them, as long as they are dull, not long, and are sewn into the outfit...

Here's the link you were trying to put on here. All you have to do is copy and paste.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/02/01/michigan-school-district-allows-sikh-students-wear-religious-dagger-school/

Since the topic is about a news story, I'm going to move it into the appropriate forum.

Thank you, Fox! So everyone else's religions get specialized treatment in schools....NICE. And even though it is a peaceful religion from India, this item is worn in case they are in need of protection....hmmmmm. So a simple schoolboy fistfight may turn into a bloodbath?

If you're going to allow one group, you must allow everyone else. I see lawsuits coming from this decision.

I can't see how this will hold. Some school districts are not allowing students to wear rosaries to school because some gangs have been using them as a symbol. How do you uphold that, and every other harmless thing that has banned and allow a weapon?

You are right, though I can't say this is a good example since rosaries aren't supposed to be worn. They are prayer beads. Those that wear them more than likely are not doing so for religious reasons. I tend to agree with this rule.

I do not think they should be allowed to wear these daggers to school. They are weapons, and this is not India. I do not care about religious customs in schools any longer if teachers can't wear a cross necklace for fear of offending a student. JMO.
