I have determined that....

I hope this isn't too much of a hijack.
Back in 1996 my brother gave our parents a really nice 36" Sony tv.
They had never had a really nice tv with all the bells and whistles.
I stopped by one day and they were watching tv with the French Closed Caption on.
I asked them why they had the CC on and my mother said; A couple of weeks ago it just started having all that gibberish on it.
I told her that it was French CC and that somehow they had turned it on.
My mother to this day swears they did nothing to cause the CC to be turned on and the tv "just did it on it's own".
But then again, they had taped the following on the remote; on/off, volume, channel.

:))

My ex mother-in-law used to love getting new technology, but didn't know how to use it. I'd get phone calls all the time about her TV, DVD player, computer...etc, that would end with me driving over to her house to see what she was talking about. It was always user error, but I'd patiently go over everything again...and again...again. :D

I have one old style left in the guest room.

That is just so they don't get the idea to stay to long huh.
The Guest that Wouldn't Leave Starring John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd and Jane Curtin

Soooo, I am the last to have all 'old style' TV's?
Not all are hooked up, but we have 5 TV's and all are the 'old style'.

We have two, and they're old style. I just can't justify paying money for a new one when these work just fine. I'll be glad when they die. :D

RE: French closed-captioning - HAHAHAHAHAA That is hilarious.

RE: TVs mounted on the wall - This always makes me think of hospital rooms. That's why I wouldn't do it. That, and I don't like watching TV in the bedroom.

There is another room you can watch it in?
After spending so much time in hotel rooms over the past 20yrs and living alone most of the time since 1989, I have spent more time watching tv in a bed than anywhere else.

LOL. I only watch tv in bed. I do not have one in the living room. We use the living room to actually talk to each other, if the tv was on in the background, I would only hear, "uh huh." We have one in the family room for family movie time. (or sports for the husband)

We have one in the living room and one in the office/den. We never have it on just for background noise...I am totally into QUIETNESS, and I don't do well with that crap. We spend a lot of time reading and talking vs. channel-surfing.

I have a husband and son. They would never just sit and talk if there was a tv in the room! :laugh
