10 days ago, I received by whole house surge protector and installed it because I was tired of running around unplugging stuff to save it.

It's protecting the house alright, we haven't had a Thunderstorm since. A little rain the next day, then no rain since then.

It's like spending money to protect against something makes it go away for weeks.

Good thing I didn't fertilize the grass, we'd be in a stage 3 drought!

Greystone Power has a really good deal for whole home surge protection so I signed up for it. They installed it within 2 days of signing up. Just $7 a month for it. Sorry, GD, but the install of it has not stopped the storms...

Yearrrrrrs ago a friend of mine from San Diego and her husband moved for her husband's job to Kansas.

They bought a house and had the basement finished with a safe room if there was a tornado. They were not there long, and he was transferred to a different city. He started the job in the new city but she and the kids stayed behind to sell the house and completed the school year. She had been complaining that they spent all the money on a finished room in the basement for tornados and never even needed to use it.

She should have waited until she was out of the state.... an unusual for the time of year F3 tornado ended up headed to their part of town. Of course her husband was in another state, it was just she and her three kids, AND the electricity went out. She put the mattress over them and waited. She said she had never been so afraid because it was so noisy. In the end her home was fine as were she and the kids.

She said as it was happening she was thinking how she lamented to so many people how they spent the money on a basement and never used it JINXING herself :cheesy: ... she said she also thought if it took the house she could leave because there would not be a house to sell because she did not want to go through another tornado!

Don't borrow heart ache.:love1:
