I'm furious, I'm outraged, I'm just sick. You know, it baffles me that I am part of a society that, as a whole, has no regard for anyone other than themselves. Six officers in Utah shot yesterday, one killed. The other five? All in the hospital in serious to critical condition.
WHAT THE HELL is wrong with the world today?
It's really NOT hard to just do the right thing. You don't want to go to jail during a drug raid? Well, how about not sling dope? Killing a cop is not the answer. Because guess what? The doper got shot and killed, too. So there are 2 lives lost because he was a dumbass.
I've heard it before, the police KNOW what they are getting into when they decide to do that for a living, blah blah blah, hey..SCREW YOU. My husband gets dressed every night knowing what he may face. He does it willingly, thankfully, and most of all he does it because he loves it. Yes, he goes to work to defend and protect even the jerks that hate him and want him dead all because of the job he chose...a job he loves. He wouldn't be happy doing anything else, and I know that, so I smile and watch him leave and make sure I tell him that I love him because, even though I'm smiling, my heart is being ripped out knowing that it could very well be the last time I ever have the chance to tell him and to hear him say it back.
Am I angry, bitter, pissed off? Hell yeah, I am. And with good reason. I will never forget when one of Jason's friends that works for another department was shot. I will never forget that phone call when the first words out of Jason's mouth were "it wasn't me, I am fine". It shook me to my core. This hit home...hard. Then to watch the news and see the mother of the monster that shot him, blasting what that officer did. "He shot him like a dog" were her words. Really? Like a dog? No, no ma'am. He shot him like the murderous bastard he was. How dare the media even run stories like that!
Oh, there was public outcry...horrible awful police officer that just gunned down some poor guy in a parking lot. Where was the public outcry when the officer was shot? Oh, that's right, there wasn't any. People are quick to call 911 when they NEED the police, but past that point, who cares. I CARE. ALL of the families care. These are our husbands, wives, mothers and fathers to our children, our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters. WE ALL CARE.
Where is the media when a police officer does something that he should be commended for? Those stories don't get ratings, I guess. sigh....I'm just heartbroken. I'm sad for the entire LEO community that these are the struggles that they are facing and the general public could care less. Where is the outrage?
Oh well, I'll watch my husband get dressed, put his vest on, kiss him and tell him I love him, hear him tell me he loves me before he leaves, and just like every other night, pray he comes home.
