Hillbilly Rap? Really?

I don't know Colt Ford and couldn't pick him out of a line-up until last night, but he and his merry band of hillbilly rappers (?) were at the Fair last night. Maybe I was a little too tard to appreciate the concept since I had been at work since 5:45 AM. Really? This guy's name is Colt Ford? Named after a gun and a truck? I guess that takes care of the "country" part of the "music". He probably needs something to address the rap part.

Maybe...Colt Model T-Bag 2 Low Ford or something along those lines.

We were a little busy, but I did take note that the song drawing the most interest and applause was a delightful recitation about the "Waffle House" and "I'm gonna hurt somebody" before morphing into a somewhat syncopated version of "Sweet Home Alabama". I'll give him this though....He was kind enough to shut down for a few minutes when my guys and EMS responded to a man who collapsed near the back of the arena. But then again, he may have only stopped because the ambulance was drawing everyone's attention from the stage.

At times I have questioned my decision to step away from the music business. Last night removed any and all doubt. I will admit though that for an instant....and just an instant mind you...I considered coming our of retirement and forming a Calypso-Gansta-Gospel Quartet and Steel Drum Orchestra. :huh

LOL

Most music anymore is trash.

Boy, I'm on a roll. Everything is trash, lol. Either I'm getting old and crotchety or I'm just in a really bad mood. Or both. :laugh

Turn on the radio to a pop station (do they still call them that?) oh well, whatever station carries current stuff and not only has the bed head hair come to stay but the just out of bed voice is here. Honestly, it sounds like they have rolled out of bed and grabbed a microphone and just started, I hesitate to call it this but, singing. It's weak voiced and not all that well clearly pronounced. Who in the world pays money for this junk?

The standards of the 40's are before my time but I appreciate them more with each passing year. Give me Perry Como any day. At least those folks knew how to accurately sing.

Awesomely classic pic, GC. I do love me some Dean Martin. Hillbilly rap, no.

I used to have that pic in my sig line for years. Gotta love the Rat-Pack. The photo was taken at Carnegie Hall in 1961 8)

:laugh We were there! My kids love Colt Ford! We were among those waiting in line for the kiddos to get his autograph. I looked for you to be my personal security. Fortunately, it didn't seem necessary. It was a much better night than last year and some years past.

My husband was near the man who collapsed. :( We've heard he didn't make it.

I was back there when they loaded him into the ambulance. He was already gone, but the EMTs continued CPR and chest compressions anyway. The man was 39 years old, although he appeared older. He was very over-weight and reportedly had 7 previous heat attacks. It was sad...

Regarding security, I feel it went very well this year. I was mostly riding with the Major who had been in charge of security this week to get more familiar with their zones and parking procedure. Next year I'll take over his job....if....I'm still there.

We had between 50 and 70 LEOs there, depending on which night of the week it was. I feel it went very well, given the large number of deputies and county/city police. Marietta PD had a "spotter" in a tower to scan the crowd for problems and would dispatch the response teams when needed. Other than that poor man who died, there were no major incidents. Praise God today is the last day.

We completely missed the fair this year. The princess decided to misbehave at school on Friday so she was "grounded" this weekend. No TV, no fair, no mani/pedi, no shopping, no play dates, but she did get to clean her room and help with the laundry, vacuuming, sweeping, and yard work. Her teacher said that she thinks that she isn't getting enough attention. I think this weekend took care of that...

That gives me a great idea. Reckon if I misbehave I can miss it next year? :thumbsup

Really....you didn't miss anything :sick

Nah, in the real world, misbehaving usually gets you overtime... I can live without the fair, but this would have been the first year that the princess is tall enough to ride the ferris wheel, so she was pretty devastated when I told her that misbehaving at school would not be tolerated and that she would be sitting her behind at home this weekend. And, since her teacher thought she needed more attention, she would be spending every waking moment with ME! :laugh
