Rolling down the highway
The dishwasher rack repair paint?? My dishwasher is old but it still does a great job. The rack has some worn out spots from the plates and leaves rust spots on the edges. The reviews at amazon are mostly positive, just curious if anyone has tried it and any tips to make sure it works.

A new lower rack is about $80-$100 bucks.........this is only $10, I'm going to try it.

I usually know about stuff like that but not this time.

You know about multiple openings in a nipple for milk to come out, but you don't know about this. ::)

My dishwasher is 19 years old, still does a great job. New racks cost a lot of $$$, since we only paid 200 for it new, I can't justify spending that much on replacement racks. It could die tomorrow ( :pray not before the holidays, please)

Ours is that old as well. I'm sure a new one would be WAY quieter, although this one's not the loudest in the world. But not worth the money to me while it still works fine.

I would like to know the brands and the level of cost (entry, middle, top) of the washers who are performing well into their golden years! :love

Hubby bought the bottom of the line Maytag (it had all sorts of rebates and discounts that the middle level did not,)and it has been a horrible dishwasher. I was gone when it was purchased. :rant

I bought a scratch and dent Maytag that was middle of the line at our previous house, around 1992, and it was a great washer!

I LOVED my first Maytag. I HATE the Maytag I have now - entry level saving money is not a deal when it never worked very well to begin with. Four years into it ... many dishes came out dirty! Seven years later I just use it to sanitize since it hardly washes! Oh, and the racks are rusting too! Piece of Cr#####p!

My dishwasher is a Whirlpool, it's a cheap builders grade model. But even being a builder's grade it out performs many others. During my previous life in Chicago my ex started out as a maintenance man for apartment complexes. Lawd we moved 6 times in 3 years, twice while I was expecting our daughter. They kept moving us from Apt complex to Apt complex. During that time I had a chance to play with several different kinds of dishwashers, the two Whirlpool ones out did the others 10 fold. It also had less problems than the other brands, since hubby was the maintenance guy, we had lots of experience there, too.

Fast forward 10 years and now that hubby is gone and I live in Georgia with a new hubby. LOL When we built the house I was very specific about Whirlpool. 19 years later I guess I made a pretty good decision. All Kenmore brand used to be made by Whirlpool, not sure they still are. The other thing I love about Whirlpool is some models have the silverware tray on the door, mine does. I love that it leaves more room for the dishes in the main tray and it sprays much better, too.
