Guess I\'m getting a new oven

I was going to surprise my wife tonight with a nice dinner...shrimp, cheese grits or wild rice, and fresh asparagus. We had to run to Kroger for some other items so I told her then what my plans were. We got home, put things away, then I started preparing dinner. I turned the oven on so it would be preheated when the other dishes were ready to go. As I went to put the shrimp dish in the oven I noticed the oven light was not on, I never heard the preheat beep either, and they I realized when I opened the door that the oven wasn't hot, not even warm. I tested the burners on the stove and each worked fine, but the oven doesn't turn on and the timer and clock buttons are not working even though the time on the clock is correct. I suppose the storm from last week fried the module or at least damaged it. Guess we're going oven shopping in the near future but first I want to take it out and open the module to see if there is some type of short. My suspicion is it's fried beyond repair but you never know.

That happened to me on New Year's day, luckily I have a counter top oven and used the grill to bake. Sooo glad I have a gas stove, but it does have electronic ignition.

That sucks ...

Renting these past few years has been a blessing... From air conditions going out, microwaves, bad wiring... I haven't had to she'll out for these costly repairs.

I do miss having a forever home but once chad figure outs where he wants to live we will get one

Yaahhh, we don't have to buy a new stove / oven. After talking about it at dinner after Easter service today we decided to try turning off the electric breaker to the stove then back on again. It worked like a charm so we're happy campers even though we had a Mexican Easter lunch instead of our traditional one. Small price to pay I suppose.

:yeah

Update #2 - Not so fast, I saved money on a stove but our TV went out right in the middle of our recorded show. We went to live tv but nothing but a black screen and no sound, then we swapped out the AT&T box from another room and determined it was working fine. Soooooo, off to Best Buy for a new TV but they were closed so we settled for one at Wally World. Still, even though we did have to make a purchase for a TV, the old one was beginning to give us problems and had a growing "brown out" spot on it. The storm from last week did a number on our electric outlets and everything which was turned on at the time. Not just a an outage but several surges and temporary outages. Oh Well, life is still good.

I am going to try that trick with the circuit breaker. Our oven quit working and I bought the glow plug and that wasn't the problem. Fingers crossed that this works.

A thingy in the wife's oven went out a few years ago.
The oven part wouldn't work.
It only cost like $75 for the part and someone to come out and replace it.
(I think it was like a $25 part and the guy at the parts store lived near by and stopped by and replaced it for $50)

But, the oven didn't work for over a year before the part was replaced.
In fact, the only reason it got replaced when it did was it was Nov. and she wanted to have Thanksgiving dinner at our house that year.

She cooks.
She cooked a meal for her son's birthday last Sat.
At this point, if she cooked just for us, I wouldn't eat it.
I would figure that it was trick and she was out for the life insurance money.

I've never seen Gone with the Wind either, at least not all the way thru. I've seen boys and pieces of it but quickly lose interest in it.

I have to close this before I say something that I shouldn't.
