Favorite Scary Movies...

The last week of October is scary movie time at our house:

The Shining (my all time favorite)
An American Werewolf In London
The Thing
Jaws
Rosemary's Baby
American Psycho
Dawn Of The Dead (2004)
Friday The 13th (original)
Halloween (original)
Nightmare On Elm Street
Death Proof / Planet Terror
The Descent

This year I will add : Cabin In The Woods

What are some of your favorite scary movies ?

I don't like scary movies unless they are campy. My all time favorite is "From Dusk 'Til Dawn". It was written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Robert Rodriguez, and stars a huge cast of well known people including Clooney,

Nosferatu (original)
Dracula (orignal)
Frankenstein (original)
Wolfman (original)

I know they are dated, but the are the granddaddy's of them all.
If you haven't seen Nosferatu, check it out. It is a silent movie but it is a good'n.

For those that like a more current movie: Friday the 13th (the 1st one)

I'm not a big movie person, but do have some scary favorites. I'm not into blood and guts and gore but I like the haunting type movies.

The Shining
The Haunting
The Others
Poltergeist

You get the picture.

Funny you should start this thread HB. Got an email from my nephew on FB yesterday about a low budget zombie/beer movie having a premiere in Atlanta. It seems my niece, Jenny Nicole Helms is one of the actresses in this movie.

Not sure if we're going to see it but I might just because Jenny is in it. Looks rather "dumb" but it could be fun. :laugh

Here's the trailer. She's the one in the plaid blouse on the left. The Black Earth Trailer

You have to go see it, it has family in it.
By the way, she looks exactly like my 3rd wife.
(now all I have to do is get rid of #2)
Just Kidding. :)

Homey don't do skeery movies. Homey be chicken. Suspense, yes...skeery, no. :shiver:

I'm with the Panda - I don't do skeery movies, they cause bad dreams....

There are a couple on my list that are total cheeseball... (Dawn of the Dead 2004, Planet Terror, The Descent)
Although I am a huge Tarantino fan... I do not favor Rodriquez with the exception of the very first El Mariachi.

Go figure... I may have to revisit the experience. 8)
