That is true, but I think they will gut the military no matter who is SoD. Democrats are always against a strong defense. I can remember during the Clinton administration our defense spending was reduced so badly that we didn't have the money to do annual weapons qualifications. Our military's ammunition supply was so low, it had to be saved in case we went to war. We couldn't send as many soldiers to the leadership development courses necessary for promotions. That alone hurt our retention as people didn't want to stay in if they couldn't get promoted.

For decades NATO countries were not paying what they were obligated to in order to keep the organization effective. We picked up the tab. Trump fixed that, forcing them to pay the contracted amount under the alliance treaty and those countries hated him for it. Under a Biden administration, he will allow them to go back to paying less for the sole purpose of having them "like" us again.
 
His picks so far have been mostly massive payola for the people who either stepped aside for him or helped him get there.

And, it's looking like the same old status quo crap. Raise taxes, increase spending, more regulation, kiss up to China and Iran, involve us in military conflicts, let every radical and special interest group have their way.
