Deer crossing the streets isn't really odd at all. I think many forms of wildlife have gotten "used" to humans over time. Our ever expanding populations are driving that.
Deer are magnificent creatures! I've never cared to shoot one, but I have no problem eating one if someone else does the deed. ;D
