Dinner was a hit!

Madea

zip a dee doo dah
So, we had a family night and I made homemade lasagna, homemade breadsticks, salad and key lime cupcakes for dessert.

The key lime cupcakes were a Pinterest find. (If you are on there, I have them on my "food" board.) Quite frankly, they needed more lime. I have a big bottle of key lime juice, so I may experiment some more this weekend. :))

Oh, and I found a recipe for EVOO Herb Dip, that was "supposed" to duplicate Olive Garden's bread dip. Uh, yeah, not so much. The family wasn't impressed with mine.

I got leftover lasagna and breaksticks for anyone who wants to come and clean the kitchen.

But, it's days like today that remind me how much I love my kitchen aid mixer.

Sounds yummy! And yes, I have seen your keylime cupcakes on pinterest - darn you! :) Glad your dinner went well and glad all your guests enjoyed it.

I think a Kitchen Aid stand mixer is the most important appliance in the kitchen aside from the fridge and stove. I LOVE OURS!!!

I'm on the hunt for a better recipe. The kids liked them, but my husband and I think they need more lime. So, don't make those yet! :)) (They were still good, just not that "perfect" key lime combination.)

Of course, I don't think I could EVER top those from Bumble Bee Bakery!

You are gonna think this is stupid, but I got my KA Mixer one year for my birthday (I was THRILLED!) and I swear I thought "man, I have finally arrived as a cook". :laugh That was probably 7 years ago (you know, back in the good years :)) ) and we still LOVE each other! :love

I have spent the day with my Kitchen Aid. I definitely think it was one of the best gifts I have ever received. How the heck did we mix without them? LOL

I've used it a lot in the last few weeks. I'm thinking of adding some more accessories. I only have one bowl. When I originally ordered mine, it was supposed to come with a second bowl. Then it didn't come so I got a credit back. Quite frankly, I think I'd rather have the extra bowl. Especially today since I mixed cupcake batter, frosting and made bread dough in mine.

Yes, the extra bowl is very helpful. I really need more. I kept having to wash between cake batters, fillings, and icings today! I think I need about 4, but then I need a bigger kitchen because I will have nowhere to store them! :))

I love the beater with the scraper. I need another one of those too. Darn, is it February yet? :whistle

Hey Madea.... If I buy one of these gadgets, will you come to my house and make that same dinner to demonstrate how you used it? I'm slow and need the hands on demonstration! :love

I love homemade lasagna!!! We had homemade eggplant parmesan. I agree with the KitchenAid! I use mine all the time. I have an extra bowl, but agree with SD that I need like 4. SD, I don't really like my paddle with the scraper all that much...I seem to make a bigger mess when I use it because stuff likes to fly out.

:)) Turn it down. I had flying stuff too, but if I go a little slower I don't get that little bit of dry ingredients in the indent at the bottom when I am making large batches.
Are you doing Easter Cakes this year?

Sure, but I warn you, it took 3 hours.

I don't have the one with the scrapper, but I do have the top guard so nothing flies out. LOL

I'm not sure if I am or not. If someone wants one, I will.

I used to have a top guard, but it broke. I wish I still had one!

LOL. I forgot about the guard. If I can find mine you can have it. I think it is in the way too much. Plus it is just another thing to wash!

I especially need a guard when BBG uses the Kitchen Aid....he likes to test out how fast he can turn it on!:))

Madea, did you put lime zest in your cupcake and frosting? Everything sounds deliciously wonderful! Next time, take a pic. I love seeing what folks make. :thumbsup

I would give up everything in my kitchen before my much beloved Kitchen Aid. I love love love it! :love

I did use zest, but I don't think it was enough. The icing was more cream cheese.
