Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

Should Trump escape scrutiny for his actions during covid?
He was captain of the ship, so he's responsible for what happens on his watch.

The question is; what where his actions? Did he actually shut the states down? Not exactly. His administration gave the states guidelines to follow, but as I understand it, they were not binding. The governors had the final authority.

Was he initially fooled by Fauci and that bunch? Yes, I think so. But weren't we all? We were hit by something that was like it came from a scyfi movie, and the nation was terrified, we looked to the "experts" for answers. We know now that many of those answers were wrong, but we didn't at the time. We were just trying to survive.

Did he go along with congress on the crazy spending? Yes, he did. But I wonder if he really had a choice? We saw what they did to him over silly remarks about bleach; just imagine had he vetoed all the emergency spending measures.

I have to wonder if anyone in that position would have done things much differently? What would a President DeSantis done differently? Probably very little; DeSantis initially locked things down too. We were all fooled because we were scared. Had it been a Democrat in office, I suspect the Constitution would have been suspended and we would have been under marshal law.

How long are we going to blame Trump for everything? It makes the Democrats happy.

Sure…he was POTUS at the time so of course he gets some blame. COVID-19 became a thing in Nov 2019, Biden took over at the helm on Jan 20, 2020 which means Trump owns a whole two months of it. Mind you, he owns the first two months during which time the facts were yet unknown and fear was a real thing. I’m sure that doesn’t matter to those whose primary function of each day is to blame Trump for something. Anyone who thinks they know how someone else would have handled it as POTUS (not as a governor of a southern state or a member of the House) is dreaming.
Covid was a thing before Nov 2019. The first covid deaths in the US occurred in Feb. 2019. The CDC issued warnings, but the WH called it Wu Fu.

For the first most of 2019, Trump was minimizing it, calling it the Wu Flu. Trump shares a lot of blame on this.

Both of y'all have the dates wrong. COVID deaths in the U.S. started in February 2020. Biden took office in January 2021.

Um....might want to check those dates.
Ohhhh my…you are correct. I swear I actually did “double check” the dates BUT I didn’t double check my typo.

Then the correct timeline for Trump’s responsibility is actually 13-14 months instead of only two. I still agree that he rightly deserves only some responsibility and during his Covid reign the risks were still relatively unknown and the fear was still at its peak.

Good catch, it deserved correction.

I admitted to my error. I should have said 2020 instead of 2019. States started shutting down in March of 2020. Trump obviously supported the shutdowns because when Kemp began reopening the state in April, Trump voiced his opposition, claiming it was too soon to reopen. Meanwhile, there were those who had opposed closures stating the only way to beat covid was through herd immunity. Some of those ended up catching the virus and spent time in ICU while close to death.

While generally respected in the sports journalism space, Dickson was also the author of many stories shaming and trying to cancel tennis star Novak Djokovic.

Some of his headlines included: "Welcome to the Wacky World of Novak Djokovic: Anti-vaxxer tennis superstar is a tree-hugger who insists Bosnia's 'pyramids' give off mystic energy and that positive thoughts can PURIFY water," "Novak Djokovic's WEASEL words cut no ice and he has damaged his reputation with his 'misinformation' around the Australian Open... after helping to create a player union, his leadership credentials have been BADLY damaged," "Novak Djokovic will remain a hero to some, but to many others he has TRASHED his reputation beyond repair," and "Novak Djokovic could ruin his chances of becoming the GOAT by refusing to take the vaccine… it is a strange hill to die on for a player who is so desperate to be loved."
