Companies in CA now dictated to on what kind of people must be on their boards

I'm all for diversity, but not to where it interferes with a business's right to choose who they wish to hire or serve on their board of directors. This doesn't allow the business to recruit the best from all people, but the best from a certain group of people.

The diversity legislation is similar to a 2018 measure that required boardrooms to have at least one female director by 2019.

$300,000 fine is chicken feed when you are looking at the damage that an unqualified person on the board can cause. (Heck, it's less that the likely salary to the board member).

This is a feel good law that CA seems to specialize in. (and gets them some revenue)

I see a lot of fines being paid or companies moving their headquarters (which would also cost more than $300K, but would be a one time expense)

It's a good thing that the government of California focused on this extremely important issue, rather than wasting time on anything stupid...... like forest management, homelessness or riot control.
