Oh man! You know I mean this in only the nicest possible way but ...

I HATE YOU! I absolutely love, love, love having a nice fire in the fireplace.

LOL. I am used to it. Husband and child hate me too.

As a child my house burned down from a gas leak and exploded when the fire was lit. (Not sure of exact details we never were really told.) Anyway my mom and I were in the house and my mom threw herself on me to cover me. She was burned on 80% of her body and I was completely fine. She was in a burn unit for almost a year and this was right after my brother died. I will not have gas in my home or a fire.

Oh my! I am so sorry!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

1 Tablespoon melted butter

1/2 cup medium chopped onions

1/4 cup melted butter

1/4 cup flour

2 cups half an half cream

2 cups chicken stock

1/2 lb fresh broccoli

1 cup carrots, julienned

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

8 ounces grated sharp cheddar cheese
Salt and Pepper

Directions:

1. Sauté onion in 1 tablespoon melted butter.

2. Cook melted butter and flour using a whisk over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Stir constantly and add the half & half.

3. Add the chicken stock. Simmer for 20 minutes.

4. Add the broccoli, carrots and onions. Cook over low heat 20-25 minutes.
5. Add salt and pepper. Return to heat and add cheese. Stir in nutmeg.

My friends request this all the time and I have to double or triple it when I make it for the family. My son eats his weight in it.

How absolutely horrifically awful. Did she live for a long time after that, and could she do normal things? How did your brother die, if you don't mind saying? Was he a child?

Mom is still alive, but very sick, unrelated. She could do normal things and has had a fairly normal life but she has had more skin grafts then I can even count and even when healed they get dried out and itch and get infected even decades later. :(
My brother died of APlastic Anemia. At the time of his death it was incurable and still is depending on the severity of it. He was 4.

I am so sorry SD! That hurts my heart. And I'd be afraid of fires too. (HUG)
