Cha cha cha CHIA!

My husband and I have been drinking chia seeds in our morning juice (fresh from the juicer) every morning. Ten days ago, I moved my Mom down to Costa Rica to retire and enjoy life. She's overweight, high blood pressure, and diabetic. And so at her request, she is adopting our healthy eating habits. In less than ten days, she has been able to stop her HBP meds and control it completely with one teaspoon of Chia every morning. In fact, the first day she started the Chia after stopping her meds, her BP was 145/95 and down to 122/76 one hour after drinking Chia. And her BP has remained that way since, even though she tests at least 4-5 times a day.

I'm am still absolutely amazed at the benefits of this tiny, all natural seed. Makes me wonder what else is out there that can be used to replace pharmaceuticals.

Does anyone else here eat/drink Chia?

Is that even something we can get around here?

Diva will need to know if it's good mixed with Vodka :dunno

This is the only Chia we can get in the States.

Yes, you can get Chia seeds anywhere in the US. A friend of mine in the US buys hers off Amazon because it's cheaper. I get mine from my neighbor who sells grains to Nicaragua so he has an abundant, cheap supply.

And yes, they are the same seeds used to make the Chia Pet. I threw the rest of my juice in the yard once because it was terrible and a week or two later, I had a chia lawn.

I'll give it a shot. Can't hurt nuttin' ;D

My boss was using that for a while. I just asked her why she stopped, and she said she saw no improvement in anything. :dunno

I'd be willing to give them a shot if I had high blood pressure.

I noticed a big difference when I was in the US for three weeks and didn't get my juice and chia. I had less energy, had trouble sleeping, and noticed my roseacea on my face was flaring. Granted, it could have been a combination of the change in climate and different foods. I can't know for sure.

Interesting. I may have to research that some and possibly give it a shot.

This caught my attention and did a quick search. Looks like reviews are mixed but worthy of a closer look.

Good info, thanks.

My BP has only recently started creeping up, probably due to stress. But I'm not keen on taking the usual meds because of the side effects.

I'll give this a try.

I use chia seeds in my protein shakes. I also buy them from Amazon, a lot cheaper. I did run out once and Nutribullet had a chia, cacao, something else mix that I bought at Bed Bath and Beyond, it was okay, but at $20.00 for 30 servings it was much more expensive.

I am happy for you and your mom that she wants to adopt your more healthy lifestyle!

Yep ... chia seeds here, too. In protein shakes, in/on breads, use the meal in all kinds of everything.

Ive had my seeds a few days and have been taking them. They have a slightly nutty taste and are not at all objectionable.

Time will tell what the effects are.

After questioning, I think the boss thought they were going to lower cholesterol without making dietary changes. :dunno

Tell dipsy doodle boss to eat oatmeal/Cheerios for the cholesterol.

I've heard the chia thing is legit, but have too much going on at the moment to give it a try. Maybe in a couple of months.

So glad you got your mom moved!!! You are a precious daughter. :love :love :love

Wish I knew the trick. I'm still trying to get my mom to move in with us. I've always wanted to take care of her. :love
