Carrolton Clinic

The Carrolton clinic is now open. My husband has an appointment on Wednesday. We'll let you know what we think of it.

Is this a new VA facility?? Will this prevent him from having to go to Decatur?? My Dad has to go there for most procedures and it's a long way from Rockmart. He goes to Rome for little stuff but everything else is in Decatur or at Emory.

Yes, it just opened. They will have PCP, dental, and some other services there. I think they have a senior living space there as well. I'll get the low down tomorrow.
There will be some things the guys will still have to go to Decatur for, hopefully only major stuff. I have Husband on the list to transfer to Carrolton as soon as possible. He goes to Rome for the little stuff too. Are you filling out the travel forms for Decatur?

I dunno, I'll have to ask my Dad if he's doing that. I didn't even know that existed!!

They used to have to wait in line at a window to get the mileage. They changed it last year to a form you fill out, and they send a check. I think they were having a lot of folks saying they were there for stuff, and they weren't. Now, they check your info against the appointments to verify that you were there. Have him ask for the form from whatever clinic he is there for. Usually they have most of the info filled in, all he has to do is fill in his name, and address, then he signs it (this is very important.) They will send him a mileage check in about 3 weeks. I know it depends on the distance traveled for him to get this. I don't think it applies to the community clinics.

Everything is a long way from Yorkville. :))

I've lived in Paulding for 20 years and I don't even know where Yorkville is... I've heard of it, but that's about it.

It's over yonder............not far from Alabama, Fish Creek is even closer to the big A but it's Polk County. We'll forgive Lisa for moving to that...............I mean errrr, there. :)

BBG has to go to the Decatur one for everything. He asked to be switched, but they refused him. This is why he refuses to go to the VA and now I have private health insurance on him. I wonder if he may be able to switch to this one.

I don't know why they couldn't let him go to one of the other clinics. It could depend on what services he needs. Most of them have PCP, mental health, and basic lab stuff.
They just moved the dental out there, before he had to go to Decatur for that. We're going to Decatur tomorrow for pre-op blood work. Husband is having eye surgery in February.

I have no clue. He doesn't need special services. All I know is when he was sick and called to make an appointment, they couldn't get him in for over a week, so he had to go in to the ER to wait for hours on end. This is why he hates the VA!

I don't know what to say to that. I do know that if husband is sick, and needs to see a doctor, he has not had any issues.
Husband hated the VA as well. But, I took it upon myself to figure out exactly what he needed to do, and how to go about doing it.
I keep in close contact with our Service Rep. he knows all the paper work that needs to e filled out, and what we need to do. I also go to the doctor with husband. He gets a bit miffed when he says "everything is OK," and then I make sure the doctor knows things are not OK.
